Blacked out tail panel? Someone once told me that both are correct for a 66 Chevelle SS but I don't know for certain.

I also notice that the antenna mast is missing from it's mount on the right rear.

I had a slight weeping out of one corner of the radiator......so....I bought a griffin Aluminum unit and never got around to installing it before the Chevelle showed up......I was going to putb it in the Chevelle but found out the were a couple issues so I decided to put it in the Impala where it belonged anyway..........Took all of a hour to change it out.......LOL......after looking at the pictures it reminded me of a bunch of Corvette guys that were at a car show this year.......one of the guys walked over and looked at the engine and called out to his Buddies......"He's got one of those L 52 engines in it!!!!".......L 52......LOL

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

Bow on the package.........LOL.......A nagging little issue that I had with the car since it was put together was that it had a slight tire squealing issue when making a right turn......after numerous alignments and seeing the results that everything was in spec........I accepted it as being normal with the Ridetech suspension........The car rode and handled perfectly, just that slight squeal ..........So.......After installing the same suspension on Gary's 65 and didn't have any tire squeal at all.........Hummmm!!!!!!!......So....after finishing the Chevelle....the Impala has pretty much been sitting in the garage.......But.......I had to resolve that issue...After calling Ridetech and explaining the issue with them and thinking that it might be a Ackerman issue...we checked a few things and I was told to count the steering wheels turns in both directions off of center.......Duhhhh!!!.......1 1/2 turns to the right and 2 turns to the left......When the car was first aligned.....the steering box wasn't centered in it's travel when aligned.......thus.....the tie rods from the drag link to the steering arms weren't the same length ........which resulted in the turning radius error and thus the slight tire squeal..All fixed now.......LOL.....Sheesh.........This car stuff is Hard!!!

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

I had the same thing with my Camaro when I bought it. In my case it was more like one turn right and two turns left. It had a very large turn radius going to the right :-)

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

This post(and many others) have proven to be invaluable! I have the same crappy rear set up on my 59. I was chasing some noise in the rear brakes (after I straightened out the master / booster issue) now that the rears work the way they should.

I thought you had a post about this set up................so I looked it up................and JACKPOT!

All of your work and grief provides more than just some entertainment for myself and others!

BTW, aren't you due to build another car?

Thanks Ken!

After taking everything apart.....again.........I found out how untalented I am..........Here's what I found.....when I installed the rear pads there is a stud on the inside face of the inner pad that was "SUPPOSED" to key into a slot in the piston......Sheesh!!!

This car stuff is hard!!......I also ordered a new set of axles as the old ones had some corrosion in the seal areas and that's what was eating the seals after a period of time...I guess it's just called "Fine Tuning"....LOL

Another update........We are getting closer..........Two things.........First, I still had a Brake issue......and after having others look at it for a fresh perspective........It seems that the Vacuum Booster supplied in the kit from CPP was too small and I didn't have room for a bigger one....so ...the car is at Frame-up Street Rods getting a Hydro-boost installed......That should take care of the Brake issues.........Then I still had Ackerman issue when turning the car.........After talking to Donnie at Frame up it would seem that the only thing left that could be causing a problem would be if the steering arms were incorrect........Mark Webster sent an extra set he had to compare them...........Again.......The Nu Yawk factor came into the picture.....LOL........Wrong steering arms on the Nu Yawk Survivor car..........Those crazy Nu Yawk guyz will do anything for a laugh.........Now.....After 3 years we will finally get the Nu Yawk out of the car......(I Hope)

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

Again.......After driving the Impala for a couple years and getting used to the Brakes as they were......I just accepted the Braking system as it was.......After getting other people who are a lot "Smarter" than me involved to resolve this issue......It was recommended to install a Hydro-Boost system in the car which uses the Power Steering pump and fluid as a power source.....Just got the car back with the new system installed....OMG!!!........I love the car again........I will never use a Vacuum system again.......I never anticipated the Brake stopping power the car really had......
