A picture of my 67 SS396 I ordered right out of high school. It is equipped with snow tires, the tires may even have ice studs. It was my only car so it got driven year around. We used to get drunk & go out on the highway & do burnouts, the studs would actually leave gouges in the blacktop. Used to do a lot of street racing, won a few lost a few but always had a great time. It was Plum Mist Metallic, black vinyl top, 396/ 350hp, 4 speed,
black SS interior. I traded it in with 28k mi, the salesman was astounded it had so many miles on it. He would have died if he knew I had the speedo disconnected most of the time. |

heres a few pics of my old 69 nova SS396. I bought this from the original owner back in the 80's who said he put the flame paint job on it right after he bought it. other than that it was very original and low mileage. I thought it was strange he would put the flames on it and not change out the wheels. I had it for a few years and ended up selling it to a doctor in Washington state. never seen or heard of it again. I took these pics the day after I bought it you can see its still sitting on my trailer.

Dad in 1969 with his 426 4 speed 1965 Sport Fury. His cousin owned it before him and put max wedge heads on it and 4.56 gears. I think they used the stock intake and carb so it probably wasn't the upgrade that they thought it was.

This was taken late 1971. I recently sold this car. In this pic it had just been purchased by Ronnie Staples from the Wheatley brothers. It was a 70 that never turned a tire on the street since brand new.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps6e334bd9.png Racing Pro Stock in mid 1972 at Suffolk raceway. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pseca42644.png When it was brand new. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psdbd6b5e4.jpg In about 1976,fresh out of SRD race cars. This is the 4th owner. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pse53eee41.jpg A little earlier running gas with the slotted mags still on it. The first owner used a Mopar Super Stock kit in the rear with a Dana 60 so at this point the car had Mopar springs and a pinion snubber still in it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2b43308b.jpg When I bought it in about 2012. I had zero history on the car other than that everyone called it "The Jenkins Car". http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps74a8dcfa.jpg When I got it it had 1981 style bumper and tail lights. Luckily they didn't hack it much. I had to replace the upper half of the tail panel and the corners of the quarters. The white paint that is on it here was from the mid 70's,they did the body mods without repainting the car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psc2eb2e3b.jpg |
I don't know if you could call this pic vintage. It is my 1973 Camaro that I bought in junior year of high school. This pic was taken in 1991. At this point I had replaced the stock 307 with a flat top, camel hump head 350 that I built myself. I still own the car today. 1991 might not be vintage to some but it almost 30 years ago!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...werslave98.jpg Probably the same day at Englishtown in 1991. I borrowed these wheels and tires from a friend and pumped up the air shocks to make them fit. It must have thrown the pinion angle off or something. On this run the car ran it's (then ) best e.t. of 15.4 but flipped the transmission over. The car sat for over 25 years before I put it back together. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...owerslave3.jpg. The stock interior in 1989. The mirrored dashboard bezel was ordered from Motion performance and installed in 1977. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...owerslave5.jpg Same car today with a 408 small block, even the same plates. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps6d7cd92d.jpg Same interior today. Same everything except the stereo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psfc52b1b6.jpg 1989. Remember naming cars after rock rings? Mine is Power slave by Iron Maiden. Notice the same plates as the pic above. Also notice the area where a pile of Bondo was knocked out of the lower tail panel when one of my friends rear ended me in his even more decrepit 1973 Camaro. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...erslave1-1.jpg |
Not exactly "vintage" but from 1989 which was 30 years ago. My friend's 1973 Camaro with a target master 350 and posi rear. The L-88 hood and slotted mags give it a more vintage appearance.
