First Production 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 Sells For $3.6 Million at Auction

Quote:

The winning bidder for the first Z06 was none other than NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. Hendrick is no stranger to buying cars with the exclusive 001 serial number, but this was $600,000 more than he paid for the first production C8 Corvette two years ago. The full auction sale price of the car will go to the Operation Homefront charity which helps U.S. military families in need. Longtime friend of Barrett-Jackson Michelle Mauzy also donated an additional $100,000, for a total of $3.7 million going directly to Operation Homefront. To date, Barrett-Jackson has helped raise over $144 million for charity.

Low water mark of American performance machines

Sounds neat, but what you get is a mini-Mark IV all dressed up in performance gear with nothing to make it go. Your mother-in-law deserves more than 105.7 mph. To strangle a 302-cu. in. motor down to a sickly 134 hp is an amazing — but embarrassing — feat of modern technology."

Mind you, that isn't 105.7 trap speed in the 1/4 mile; it is TOP SPEED on a five mile asphalt straight.

I realize you can take any of the choked down anemic smogmobiles from the 70s and create a really cool cruiser with engine swaps. But I just can't warm up to them at all. I am shocked at some of the prices these pigs bring.
