One of the three 440 Magnum EW1 White Challenger RTs (with stripe delete) and 4 speeds used for the movie Vanishing Point. The 4th car was a 383 Magnum with an automatic (also a stripe delete) which was primarily used to tow the Camaro into the bulldozers for the final scene along with some minor stunt work.

None of the 4 cars exist today. All were returned to Chrysler (in barely operating condition) who was very angry the producers never told them how much illegal drugs would play in the movie. All 4 cars were crushed.

Unfortunately, some one blew a stop sign and hit him. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the car was totaled. He is driving an 02 Z/28 now.

I've seen that "2020" date warning several times now, but I have no idea what benefit someone would get by changing the date to a few years ago. Most negotiable instruments are void after a period of time, so those ones wouldn't be able to be used or accepted anyway. Does someone else know why this date thing is a big deal?

It isn't just changing the date to "a few years ago." Scammers could change the date to 2021, 2024, 2030, etc.

markinnaples 01-04-2020 08:51 PM

OK, so they change it to 2021? Still not sure how that would work out to be fraudulent. I work at a bank and can think of no real instance of how that would benefit anyone. Not being a jerk, just have no idea how that would create a fraudulent situation.

How 'bout a cheque dated 01/01/20...date goes stale but add 25 or whatever year 'appropriate' to the end?
Or maybe a Warranty/In service date written in the front of a vehicle glovebox booklet, good for 5 years from 01/01/20...year six, add an 21 and it's 'good' to 2026?
Not saying Banks or Manufacturers will get duped, more like small businesses cashing cheques/regular folks buying used cars or whatever else w/ 'doctored' paperwork...expect there's lots worse circumstances than these examples.
:beers:

While six of these cars were produced, five of these Corvette sedans were made for customers by a Pasadena-based company called California Custom Coachworks. One of the six was a prototype. Stock Corvette bodies were used, lengthened a whole 30 inches, and given four seats and four doors to turn it into this interesting muscle car sedan. 3 were crashed/crushed. This one is one of two survivors.
