I believe mrays is correct that the 66 L-78 chevelles had the idler but not the 67 L-78 cars.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
I was at Mecum in Indy last Friday and Saturday and will post some photos from there when I have a chance. On Sunday I went up to the Super Chevy Show at Martin MI. There weren't very many cars there on Sunday. Here are a few I took photos of.
S. McGhee's 68 Z/28 is a recently completed car that was my favorite one at the show. This is an original drivetrain car that was purchased new at Don Leitow Chevrolet in Bridgman MI. It was ordered with an M21 and 4.10 gears, but no console or gauge package. It was documented with a POP and dealer paperwork. The original owner was in Vietnam when the car arrived at the dealer, so his mother took pictures of the car and the engine compartment and sent them to him. Copies of those pictures were on display with the car. It was raced by the second owner, but he kept everything he took off of the car and those parts were used in the restoration. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn2894.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn2856.jpg D. Cox's beautiful 57 Bel Air was in the Gold Class. It had a 283 with the Power Pack option backed by a Powerglide. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn2880.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn2881.jpg R. Cavner's Bright Amber 68 C-10 pickup. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn2883.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn2884.jpg R. Sutton's 62 Corvette with an LS-2. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dscn2885.jpg K. Verran's Prowler Orange 70 Malibu with a 502. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscn2879.jpg S. Williams' 65 Malibu SS was my favorite drag car at the event. This car is packing 500+ci and puts out over 1,300 horsepower. Running through the mufflers with a stock rear suspension and 9" slicks it has gone 8.10's @ 160+. This was the first time he had it out this year and with a restrictor plate to tame it down and gain consistency it was running 8.50's. This was one sweet sounding car that provided some nice wheels up launches. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-dscn2860.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscn2875.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn2876.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn2877.jpg This nice little 67 Chevy II sedan came all the was from Cleveland. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn2890.jpg G. Borgman's 72 Nova was another great looking drag car. It was packing over 500ci and ran 8.30's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn2874.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
I went up to the FAST and Factory Stock race at Martin MI last Saturday. A lot of the cars in the Factory Stock class are also at the Pure Stock Drags in Stanton in September. However, here the 11.50 rule for cars without a roll bar was not in affect so a few of the faster cars like the L88 Corvettes, Hemis and the Simpson's ZL-1 powered COPO were running low ll's.
Here is T. Taccone's 70 Z/28 from NY. This is an original Cortez Silver Z/28 with an automatic transmission. He was running in the 13.20's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn2941.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn2940.jpg Here is B. Mayer's 66 GTO. This is an original tri-power car with a 4 speed and was running 13.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dscn2919.jpg This is M. DiMonte's 72 T/A from Ontario. This is a 4 speed car and it was running 12.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscn2915.jpg This is J. Keyes' original owner 67 Coronet R/T. This is a factory Hemi car with a TorqueFlite and was running 11.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn2910.jpg This 68 Charger R/T is a factory Hemi car with a 4 speed and it was running 13.80's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-dscn2926.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscn2944.jpg R. Mahoney brought his 68 Super Bee from PA. This is a factory Hemi car with a TorqueFlite and it was running 11.00's and 11.10's. I talked to him for a little bit. He will be unveiling a 68 RA Firebird convertible and the 8th 69 Trans Am convertible at MCACN this year. The 68 was just completed and the 69 is being restored by S. Tiemann as we speak. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn2924.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn2931.jpg This is J. Bowman's A12 Super Bee with a 4 speed. It was running 13.00's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn2921.jpg This is M. Leyes' 69 A12 Road Runner with a 4 speed. It was running 12.90's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn2937.jpg This 69 A12 Road Runner with a TorqueFlite was running 12.90's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn2933.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dscn2934.jpg This is S. Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Dan and Ryan,
I was there all day Saturday walking through the pits and watching the racing. I talked to a bunch of people. Were you guys just there spectating or were you there with a car? I was at Mecum Indy all day Friday and Saturday, but by the time I found Mike's GS's they had already gone through the auction and I never saw anyone around them. I saw Charlie a couple of times but he was busy talking with others when I saw him and I didn't want to bother him. I'll be at MCACN on Saturday and Sunday so I'll have to try to find you guys there. Will either of you have a car there? |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
those cars are so cool with the original look and tire scorching speed.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Great pics as usual. It's amazing to see the ETs vary so much between what you would think would be similarly quick cars. I guess it goes to the driver and to the tuning of the vehicle. Thanks for posting them.
