It really is a shame these cars went to junk. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Yes, thanks Glenn for your typical photo diligence on Sat. When I was there Fri. there was a swarm around that 5-window Model-A. One guy said it was a '30 body with a '32 grille. The body was terrible but I guess the grille and fenders were worth the selling price.
The '59 ELC was a 6-cyl. Any idea what the lettering said on the side of that '60 Delivery race car? It certainly was a shame all those neat cars were left to rot like that. Did you take notice of how many trees were recently sawed down around the cars? They must have been impossible to get to for quite a long time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Verne |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
[b]The coupe was as most of the cars were, sold without a title. The auctioneer called it a '31 and the
license plate frame on the back said the same. I cannot tell the difference. I watched someone stand on the running board and thought they would go through it. They had a problem getting it up on the rollback as it seemed to be flexing and getting caught at the mid section of the car. The auctioneer said they had tree guys there for 3 days cutting and trimming to enable buyers to get their cars out. I could not make out what that name was on the side of the sedan delivery either. Any guesses? - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...os/Junk091.jpg - - Sorry I missed you by a day Verne! |

The buyers came all the way from Indiana - with a trailer with no ramps. [/ QUOTE ] A quick stop at a lumberyard would've made things easier. A couple of 8 foot long 2X10s can't be all that expensive, can they?? Even if you break an "organic ramp" I can still find uses for them. I had to dig a little, but (using a 6' 4X4 post as a lever and a 6X6 chunk as a pivot) I've levered a car high enough to slide a jack and a plywood pad underneath. Doing this solo I simply stood on the end of the post AND maneuvered the floorjack into place. |

I feel like printing out a stack of these rotted car photos for use the next time I find some delusional dork who has a once valuable car rotting away in his backyard that he's gonna restore someday.
That way I can show him each and every one and kindly tell him: "Hey, here's a XXXXXmobile and it was worth $XX,XXX when it was parked in 19XX. And here are the recent results of what it was worth when it was finally sold after its owner died and there was nothing left: $XX. Now, would you rather have the larger amount now or would you rather I give your next of kin the smaller amount later? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I lived in Flemington in the early 70's for 2 years, that track was insane! I went to school with one of the Kuhn kids (family name who owned the track), that track for years was an important part of that community. We would take our AFX cars and hot knife(modify) the crap out of them and then paint them to look like the stock cars that ran at flemington, mostly old 40 Ford coupes and AMC Gremlin bodies. You would go home covered in a dust of clay, I was 11 years old, it was great.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I dont know what kind of muscle is under this hood but it looked pretty cool with fresh primer when it was parked over ten years ago. Check the running rust on driveway under drivers door. Someone MUST be adding air to these tires.

Glenn, dont cut up that blue Z! Bring it on down to Jed's Auto Body. I'm sure I can hook you up! If you seen the junk that I'm working on, you wouldn't believe your eyes! LOL That Gray 55 has been sitting there for a long time. I worked up that way for two years and never took the time to ask them if it was for sale. I knew the front end was good, but not that good. I guess 100 was the way to Macungie on Sunday by chance?
