There may be a shim on one side or both sides of your rear sway bar.....I am certain that you will document it, as a matter of fact....I would go the Vegas and bet on YOU!
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Sway bar out, three shims per side.
A few questions on Classic Olds about sway bar bolts, I will de-rust these to see the markings. Sway bar measures 0.875" Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_3978.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_3979.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_3981.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_3982.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_3983.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_3985.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_3986.jpg |

I am whipped!! (I love this stuff!!!!!!!!!!) Ryan Next steps, remove the final items off the frame, like lines, and engine mounts. Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan
Some of those front end parts got lots of grease crud on them and is time consuming to clean up. If you have a connection with a transmission shop they usually have a large parts washer like an oversize dishwasher. It does an amazing job of cleaning parts real fast. Might be worth a shot to save you a lot of time. Your powder costing shop may have the same equipment, check around. Paul |

"Nick
BTW, I scored that set of the bolt type shift shafts for your trans. Now it is complete and ready to be “exercised”. I’ll be happy to set up the shifter once you sort out which one you want to use." We are looking at various shifters, I got a great deal on a Competition Plus but a console model, not sure if it can be converted..... researching.....I want the stock stiff up top, handle, ball, and boot, and opening in the floor, but want an industrial mechanism below to help me learn to find third:-) Ryan |

Mark - received a lot of flack for allowing non Chevelle's into the show field. This will no longer be allowed. I personally agree.....don't bring a knife to a gun show . Dan |

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Spent some time tonight, lock froze on the garage:-(
Took the bumpers/stops off the front lower control arms, cut the remains of the sway bar end links off, and used a flapper wheel to clean one spot on the frame to see how bad the pitting is. I used a flapper, and then a tiny bit of grinding but with a dull wheel, then the flapper again, then cleaned it with frozen brake cleaner, and painted it with frozen flat black Tremclad. not sure if the pictures are helpful but I will get some good wheels and do another test patch soon. I need to figure out how to remove control arm bushings:-) Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_4112.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_4113.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_4114.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_4115.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_4116.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_4117.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_4118.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_4119.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_4120.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_4121.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_4122.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_4122.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_4124.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_4127.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_4128.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_4129.jpg |
