How's this for a day two vibe? Lol... Ya, ya. I know... First car. I bought it with ~20k on the clock. Old lady had blown the 301 somehow. I bought it for a few hundred dollars in absolutely pristine condition. I picked up a 400 out of a 76 Grand Prix at my buddies local bone yard and threw it in over the winter. Boat anchor? Yes. Fun as hell at 16 with a custom bent dual exhaust? Hell ya! I had Keystones on it.

Okay, here's a better day twoish example... Our Z with a couple of go faster goodies.

Had a friend in high school that inherited his Dad's Buick Special similar to this red Buick in the picture..

We pulled the v6 and installed a beefed up 350 Buick motor and it ran pretty well..

Interesting photo....it looks like it was taken at SIR at Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I remember 'Tuff A Nuff' and 'The Old Trapper' Cuda mixing it up on more than one occasion.

This past weekend I caught up with a couple of old racers from back in that era and was asking about the 'Tuff A Nuff' Cuda. Apparently it is still with the original owner and has been repainted back to the original color. That car has never been registered, hence never driven on the street. The mileage is purportedly less than 1K...

I also speak regularly to the original owner of the Camaro and he says he could hear the 'Tuff A Nuff' Cuda catching him on the top end and would fly by him at the finish line. Interesting stories to say the least.

Fronts were 265/50R15, backs were 295/50R15 vintage BFG's. Now it's wearing G70-15's front & H70-15 vintage white outline Polyglas GT's.

You have lots of blue paint on your car..needs to be broken up with some chrome an the chrome reverse will be dead on for the 67-69 period. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Pat_Dilling</div><div class="ubbcode-body">My Day 2 style L72 '68 Biscayne tribute is getting close to the &quot;done for now&quot; point. Some of the things I have done is replace non-period correct things like braided fuel line, split loom over the wiring, aftermarket steering wheel, fuel cell and other things. I also painted the black Rallye wheels body color and put narrower wheels and tires on the front. Most recent change was replacing cut down rear springs and air shocks with Moog stock replacement springs and KYB heavy duty shocks. Last thing in this stage will be installing a radiator/fan shroud. I remember seeing a car just like this, 4-speed, bench seat, color combo and all, the exact same car (except for the shifter knob, which was the white Hurst round knob) when I was a kid circa 1970-71. We lived a few houses away from an Oldsmobile dealership (Benedetti Oldsmobile in New Brunswick, NJ) and one of the mechanics that worked there had a Chevy just like this one-except for the wheels. He had American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels all around and it looked (and sounded) really bad-ass with them on it. And so would yours.

Hey Verne, I saw you car once, way back when, in the very early-1970s (1971?) getting ready to pull out of one of the side streets near the old Sunoco gas station in Milltown, NJ one July 4th evening as we were headed down Main St. (my dad always took me and my siblings to watch the annual fireworks display in the center of town each year). If it wasn't your car then it was its twin.

True story...... on my mothers name.
She was there !
In the passenger seat of Dad's Corvette.
The cops raced in , blocked cars in that were waiting to run.....people scattered, cars peeled out in all directions.
Dad ran back to his Vette
(I think it was his turn to flag/flashlight the previous run off)
Started it up, open headers, slicks...etc...and launched it like a missile (as he &amp; mom relayed it to us many different times......and the story never varied)
Shots were Fired as he spread off........they didn't even try to chase it......
When home ,hiding the car and cooling off......he looked it over ,to his amazement there were NO Bullet holes in the rear of the car, him or my mom....

A few years ago I took Dad to the P.I.D. Reunion in Bridgeville.....he sat next to the Original Christmas tree where albums &amp; albums , news prints, trophy's were on display for All to look at and read .....
A few &quot;old guys&quot; came up to him and asked , are you the 'Joe' with the Vette. ...Harrison City Missiles.....and the Bust ?
Dad grinning ear to ear....said .. why ?
Those guys said . We were there !
Dad. .... 'were you the cops who.. ....
Response . No ! I'm the guy that stalled his car in front of the Cop cars. !!!!!

I never saw a bunch of Old Guys go from Red to White back to Red in 5 seconds before.... tears, laughs, cheers, oohs and ahhhs. And handshakes, hugs all around as by then a nice crowd had gathered......

Mom passed 19 years ago. ...Dad is at every racetrack event he can be at. ..each week end.
I heard the SAME STORY from these 3 as Mom &amp; Dad. told it over the Years....

Glad I stumbled on this thread too... As many here know, I came very close to selling my 67 L78 Chevelle. I was trying to buy a friend of mine's car but the deal fell through so I decided to keep my Chevelle. With that being said, I'm sure glad I kept it! I decided to pull the trigger, after contemplating whether to do so for a year, and do some very light Day 2 mods. I'm sure most purists thing doing something like this to such a perfect stock specimen is blasphemy but it's my car and it's what I like. The headers are NOS Appliance Units which fit without any modifications other than a small dimple to the #3 tube for steering shaft clearance and a mini starter for more starter clearance. I painted them with white stove paint from Dampney Products. This stuff works great, in my experience, much better than white ceramic coating if you follow the instructions. I also needed to change some of the spark plug boots for better header clearance so I decided to use an NOS set of SS550 wires I had in the parts department. The exhaust system was custom made by a local shop, Allied Muffler in Bellflower, CA, and utilized Dynomax Ultraflo Mufflers. I found a beautifully restored set of original American Racing Torq Thrust Ds, also known as "Crows". 15x6 in the front and 15x7 for the rear. The lips are polished and the spokes painted gold, which really makes the gold interior pop! I went with Kelsey Tire Polyglas GTs. E60s up front and G60s out back. I also added a pre '71 Hurst Competition Plus Shifter.... what an improvement over the stock unit! I rejetted the original 3910 Holley with 72 primary jets and 80 secondary jets and a secondary block off. I installed the yellow vacuum diaphragm spring. All in all the car is much more fun to drive! The sound is incredible and way more power! These L78s really benefit from a set of headers and good flowing exhaust

I'd love to know more about this, if you don't mind. Did you use the aerosol cans or a spray gun? How thorough are the instructions? I need to repaint my headers white and I'd also like to know if you think that paint will survive a cam break in because if I remember right, Jet Hot recommends not to break in a cam with a fresh coated pair of headers. So if this paint is cheaper and more durable, sign me up!

Your '67 is so cool!! The butternut, the crows, the square flange headers, all are stuff I'd do to a super rare L78 and never apologize! I've been looking for a set of real nice vintage AR 15x7s, the deep spoke version that'll match my 15x6s. I've got the crows, same sizes as yours, and wondered how they'd sit in the wheelhouse.....you've just put my eyes at ease! I'm going that route, and really really glad I hadn't sold the crows, as I had them advertised with no interest. Thanx!!......this is for my '69 300 post sedan L78.

Here is the link! You need to break this paint in as well... You cannot break an engine in or break in a cam with a freshly painted set. I did everything the video states, except the powder coat oven. I used this paint on my Camaro headers and it has held up very well. Good luck!

Your car is awesome! Another RARE Chevelle :beers: My car is actually Capri Cream, a little lighter and more off white than Butternut. I raised the rear of my car 1" but the 7s fit in the wheel wells no problem but obviously they're not the deep offset version. Crows are definitely one of the best looking classic mag wheels.
