Thanks for all the positive comments, they often literally make me get up and do something. No matter how small, to progress in some way some how each day or each week.
Audi is not in my driveway:-) Splatter paint they used matches the original quite well, not as beautiful as the 999 crowd that have custom process’ but wow compared to the way the trunk looked to now makes me a happy guy!!! Trunk is dusty so pictures are not great. Wihirlwind trip tomorrow to pick up a whack of stuff :-) Ryan W31 PS: from the windshield to the back bumper should be black by months end and back on the frame!!!!!!!!! |
Looks great - keep the momentum going.............you will get there!

Sorry for the short pause in posting.
Life is good, I have done a few small items and have a body goes on the frame date later this month. (I lots my spot in the que at the restoration shop but move to the paint man shortly) I received a lovely note from the Stager’s that they have firmed up flights, hotel, etc etc. They are all in!!! Nick Morocco built another shifter for me, as I gathered all the original style parts and want to go back to OG :-) Ryan |

I started preparing the steering shaft.
I need ideas for the rag joint... what to do? The material is ripped so maybe I need a repop? Ryan |
Get a good used rag joint OR check on repros.
Be aware that a power steering Abody rag joint is different VS a manual steering joint..different diameter splined hole. I'm not sure if manual box rag joints are repro'd or not but know there are plenty of repros available for power steering. There will likely be some small differences in the "look" of the repro so don't expect an EXACT REPLICA. On the rubber grease boot on the steering column end of the shaft....clean it well and see how it looks. If it's not torn or all cracked just leave it in place and it should be fine. New boots are available repro but that old rubber survives fairly well. |
Inline Tube only carries PS rag joints.
However you can find a nice original MS rag joint out there. Dan |
Great job Ryan......you’re making good progress. Keep it up!!!!
But I have to ask......how many shifters do you currently have for the Cutlass??? Kurt |
Kurt,
Still is the best illustration of the Love Affair with Ryan and his car, LOL. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o1mcyj958HU Dan |
