Don't forget to tighten the front sway bar end link.....you have about 3/4 of thread to tighten.
Were your backing plates originally cast or gray....or you just decided to do it that way?

Dan

All the steering and suspension bolts are loose, I bought Boe-Shield to protect each bolt and nut, line, clip, etc.

The backing plates, I used advice from a Chevelle expert and then confirmed with an Olds expert, and then confirmed with the Assembly manual:-)

I bought a new in the box ACC black carpet set. This carpet is for automatic which I am led to believe is best for Cutlass as the 4 speed hump is small.

I also got up in the night to pee and ended up buying a 1969 442 4 Speed shifter complete with handle and ball. I must have been deprived of shifters as a child :-) (making up for lost time)

Thought you were using the rubber floor covering..?.. and the 442 shifter should have the numerals in/on the stick; W-31s only have the “H”. Not knocking your shifter fetish....I think I’m up to about 6 myself (including Super Shifters and a Ram Rod).

I will use the new carpet with the original shifter hole. I am trying to get the car like it was New (or sort of close to that) and have lots of fun options ready for the next few years.

Extra shifters make me happy :-) Agree Cutlass S has H, this one is 442, it may be for sale after rebuild... TBD.

Chop Cut Rebuild W-31 Style :-)

My wait in the que is over, ProTouring Mustang Is done and now Cutlass!!!

Happy to see the bad getting cut out, I couldn’t have done this without someone to work with to learn from.

I had them modify the trunk support, the repop has a huge “hip” on one side now it matches the OEM piece.
