Found a color shot of Mom’s 67 with yours truly being 12 year old cool behind the wheel.
Figured this pic was in 72 as it’s already gone thru the red line set of tires.
This car had a 3 page window sticker and was loaded to the max.

i'll start with a car i bought new in sept. Of 1969. I stopped at b & a chevrolet in toronto to look at a 70 nova ss 396-375 horse. The salesman, joe, asked if i was interested in a new 1969 427 chevelle as they had three of them in the compound on avenue rd.

He asked if i had anything to trade in and i replied, yes, the 67 427 corvette in their parking lot. We made a deal where i traded them even for the chevelle.

I scanned the pictures i had and the originals into my computer, except for one, and they are now with the car which is somewhere in the us i was told. I also had the original bill of sale, the broadcast copy and the transport copy. The reason i had the perfect broadcast copy and the transport copy was that it was sent to me by gm as my local dealer said it wasn't a 427, it was a 396. Of coarse i went to toronto to complain about this and they backed it up with that documentation, which is also with the present owner. Doug

This is a 1968 Pontiac Strato Chief that I purchased new when I was 19 in April 1968, being the lowest model of the Pontiac line. I wanted a sleeper at the time because back then that was still a big deal, even though the factory had got into big motors in mid size or smaller vehicles. The car as I ordered it was a 2 door sedan, 427-385 hrs., M20 4 speed, posi with 3:73 gears, tinted glass, rear antenna and am radio. I still have the original bill of sale, a recall notice from GM and a receipt for my rubber mats I bought at the time, $6.00 I think.

You often see individuals complaining that a vehicle has something on it that is not on the bill of sale. When the car came in it had a power rear antenna, rather than standard, vinyl seats, rather than cloth and a Parisienne steering wheel. The dealership let two of the three go however not the power antenna. They wanted $24, if I remember correctly, and as a 19 year old hot head, we got into an argument over this. The dealership had a body shop at the time and they said if I didn't pay it they would put the standard one on to replace the power one; I gave in and paid the $24.



The reason I mention this amount, is back then $24 was a big chunk of my take home pay, which was $64 in 1968. If you have seen what a standard rear antenna looks like on a full size Pontiac you can understand what the guys building the cars on the line thought about what I had ordered and decided to correct my mistake. A standard antenna is close to the rear window and sticks out at an ugly angle. They must have known what I was going for and changed it. These three things are not on my bill of sale. By the way, I did a body off restoration of this car a few years ago and still have it. The last picture is the day I got the car back when I repurchased it in 1989. Doug

The 68 turned only 5000 miles when i traded it. I also have the bill of sale for this one showing that i traded the pontiac in on it. They were not the most reputable dealer, but what would i know as i just turned 20 and thought everyone was honest. They told me at the time it was a 435 hrs car but someone in its first year had installed the solid lifter cam and an ansen scatter shield. This car recently went under a body off restoration by an acquaintance of mine and has since been resold. Doug

This seemed like a pretty good deal as the chevelle was $5,100 in 69 and the corvette was likely in the $6,700 range one year earlier so i made the trade. I have a couple of pictures when i bought at which time it was a red colour that i was not fond of, so i changed it. These were just used cars back then so it was, at that time, of no consequence. As far as i am personally concerned this turned out to be one of the neatest cars i have ever owned or seen, however, definitely not for everyone. I'll likely send two sets of pictures because i don't think my computer allows me to attach any more than four. The first set will be of when i first purchased the car with an incredible paint job, not that i liked it, which is why i did the car over. If i remember correctly the body work was done by someone named mouse landon, however i only heard this from the person i purchased it from and i have never heard that name in any other context. It appears i didn't scan all of the pictures i have when i purchased it so i will fix that at some point. The last picture is after i did the car over. Doug

The gentleman that has it is doing a restomod car however it has a stock front end on it which just doesn't do it for me compared to what it was. I had hoped i would find it in its original condition so i could repurchase it.
