My LS5 at Speedway 605 in Irwindale, California on May 15, 1976. The speedway would be closed and bulldozed a year later.
The original owner at the wheel of the LS5, John Lightfoot, bought the car on June 11, 1970 from Leo Hoffman Chevrolet in the city of Industry. John knew what he wanted and Leo Hoffman didn't have it so they called around and found this one at Harry Mann Chevrolet and a dealer swap was arranged. John would keep his beloved Chevelle until his death in 1998. I purchased the car from the estate on January 11, 1999. |

My 1972 SS-454 Chevelle in 1989 with my 2 sons (now 35 & 33) My 1969 Hemi Road Runner circa 1974 racing a 1968 GT-500 Shelby at Union Grove Wisconsin (Yes I won with an 11:57 @ 125 MPH) That was some Great times! Bill |
