There were many future predictions made in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. But there’s one that the movie got entirely right. It’s not the lunar colonies or zero-gravity stewardesses, but rather the tablets used by astronauts that look almost identical to today’s iPads. |

The first person to write about the possibilities of a globally connected community was Mark Twain in the late 19th century, long before Al Gore was even born. In Twain’s 1898 short story “From the ‘London Times’ of 1904,” he wrote that the “telectroscope” (inventor Jan Szczepanik’s real late 19th century creation) would use the phone system to create a worldwide network for sharing information. |

This tiny kitchen tool isn’t just for cutting hard-boiled eggs. Try slicing strawberries, kiwis, mushrooms, and more into even thickness in one fell swoop (and minus the finger-slicing risk of a mandoline). |

Don’t dump the rest of that Pinot or allow it to oxidize in the fridge for weeks on end. Pour leftovers from wine night into an ice cube tray, top with plastic wrap to keep ice crystals at bay, and freeze. Tomorrow, you’ll have one-ounce portions that you can pop out and add to sauces, soups, risottos, and stews for a nearly-instant depth of flavor. |

Keep your bananas yellow longer by pulling them apart into single-banana units and covering each stem in plastic wrap or foil. The wrap helps contain the naturally-producing ethylene gas to the stem end of the fruit. Otherwise, it would spread to the whole banana and accelerate the ripening. |

Make quick work of a heap of herbs by rolling a pizza cutter over the leaves. Keep the round slicer handy for DIY chopped salads, too: Add all your ingredients to a sturdy glass or stainless steel bowl and roll the cutter back and forth, rotating the bowl by 90 degrees every few passes, until you form bite-sized pieces. |

While we’re talking breakfast, thoroughly clean an empty ketchup or mustard bottle to use as a pancake batter delivery system. It will allow you to easily control the size and shape of your ‘cakes. |

It's also the 15th largest temperature drop over a two day period in Denver's history, according to the National Weather Service. At the Denver airport alone, the temperature dropped 55 degrees. Has anyone eaten at one of these buffets? I love soup and salad. Seems to be reasonably priced. Not that far from my home. |

https://i.postimg.cc/6pM3YLqG/AAIANZT.jpg The northern snakehead fish, an invasive species that can breathe air and survive on land, has been found in Georgia waters, according to wildlife officials. Native to the Yangtze River basin in China, the species likely entered Georgia through unauthorized release, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. It has been reported in 14 other states in the U.S. This is what I did when I lived in Tamarac, FL . . . fished for Snakeheads in the canals surrounding my townhouse. Extra equipment that I carried was a big rubber mallet and a 6 inch diving knife. Also I had heavy duty fishing line and a HD rod because I had to lift the caught fish about 5 to 7 feet up over the canal wall to get it on land where I took the knife and using the mallet drove it through it's head to pin it to the ground killing it. I usually caught 3 or 4 a day. That's how bad the species has taken hold in the canals of So. Florida. They are a very aggressive fish and feed on all other fish until there is nothing left but Snakeheads. |
