Very Good! The photo was taken some time during 1960.

The bottom drawer of your oven may seem like an appealing place to store some pans and baking sheets, but you really don’t want to do that. According to Tasting Table, the bottom drawer of an electric oven is actually for warming food (or keeping food warm). For instance, if you’re hosting a holiday party and need to store already-cooked food until it’s time to serve, this drawer will come in handy.

Nothing beats a cold beer on a hot day, but if you’re holding that bottle by its “body” (the wide part), don’t expect it to be that cold for long. The body heat generated from your palm will warm that beer at a faster rate than you can drink it. Instead, grab that Bud by the “neck” (the narrow part), which allows less of the drink to be affected by your body temperature.

Yes, Yes . . . I know . . . where was this nifty idea in June . . . as opposed to October! :hmmm:

It’s one of the most common arguments among roommates, long-term partners, and other cohabiting folks: How do you load the dishwasher? Well, if you’re placing crusty dishes with leftover carbs (like mashed potatoes) on the bottom shelf towards the sides, you’re in the wrong. Researches from the University of Birmingham found that these plates are actually more fully washed when placed in the middle of the rack. There, they’ll feel the full brunt of the water’s blast.

The logic is there: the more detergent you add, the cleaner your clothes. Turns out that that logic is not exactly spot-on. You may be using too much detergent, which can negatively affect the washing process. The experts at Tide explain that creating too many suds in a wash cycle prevents clothes from rubbing against one another, which is what helps clothing get clean. Not only that, but excess suds can also prevent your machine from rinsing properly, allowing odors or impurities to redeposit back onto your clothes.

If you’ve ever tried to tear off a piece of aluminum foil and had the tube pop out, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a hack for that. In fact, aluminum foil boxes are built for the express purpose of preventing that annoyance. As our sister site, Eat This, Not That, reports, on the side of the box, you’ll find two tabs. Push those tabs in—so they line up with the tube’s holes—and they’ll prevent your aluminum foil from popping out of the box. (Yes, it’s as simple as that.)

Its milky turquoise waters may look inviting for a swim, but don’t jump in – this caldera, formed in the crater of the Kawah Ijen volcano, is the world’s largest acidic lake. The electric blue flames that burst into the air are a source of fascination, though (of course) there is a scientific explanation: high levels of sulfuric acid, which give the water its striking hue, combust when they hit the air.

Ancient Maori legend says these boulders are gourds or food containers, washed ashore from the wreckage of a canoe that brought their ancestors to New Zealand’s South Island. Another theory suggests they are alien eggs. Geology says they formed in sediment on the sea floor around 65 million years ago, eventually choosing Koekohe Beach as their home.

My #2 favorite soup right behind Chicken Noodle. I probably make Gazpacho at least 10X more frequently though just because it's so easy to make.

One of my last official acts for the General was to release that remote snorkel as a GM Accessory.

You have to cut a giant hole in the painted sheetmetal to install it.

Why so high in CA? I paid $2.13 to fill up last week and 2.39 this Monday.

Mr70 10-09-2019 11:56 PM

I paid $2.58 a gal. here outside of Chicago today.Three weeks ago,I paid $3 a gal. at this very same station.
Prices are coming down from the summer blend,to begin the winter blend now for us.

Canuck 10-10-2019 01:13 AM

Just did a 5800 KM ( 3600 miles) trip through Eastern Canada and 4 North East States.
Ont,Que and Maritimes gas $1.10- $1.14 per litre = about $4.50 US gallon add exchange and we are paying roughly $6.60 for a US gallon.
In B.C., today the cheapest gas is $1.60 per Litre, or $6.40 per US gallon, now add exchange and we are at $8.50 per gallon.
Prices through Maine,NewHampshire and Vermont were 2.20 per gallon.
Seems the Oil CO’s like to shaft people living on the West Coast.

KevinW 10-10-2019 11:11 AM

Just filled up for $2.29 in Central NJ. California issues seem to be refinery issues. There are more gasoline production stacks that are offline vs crude availability. But hurts just the same!
