My son and I were just at Lucas Oil Raceway for the NMCA Finals last month.
We stopped at this little hole-in-the-wall BBQ place for supper one night. They had on display a carbon copy of the letter from the manufacturer of the bricks responding to the owners of the speedway, complete with quantity required (3.5 million, I think), a couple different options and pricing and terms for each. One of the bricks, surprisingly dense, I might add, was shown next to the letter.
They also had a list of the entrants for the 1910 "Sweepstakes" race with a few familiar names (like one Ray Harroun, winner of the first 500 mile race in 1911).
Pretty cool, I thought. I wish now I had taken a couple of pictures.
