I've ridden in the back seat of a Columbus Police Dept. MD-500 chopper, and before that I rode shotgun in their 2 seater Swietzer 300. These guys tell me that this is as close to daily aerobatic flying as you can get. I only puked once in 10 years. For me it was scary but the coolest experience of my life. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif
I have total respect for anybody that can drive rotary wing craft. It's like surfing, but while standing on a bowling ball. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Ok Does size matter? B29 (a rather large plane) and a B 36 an even larger plane also note this picture was taken before they added the 4 jet engines on the wing ends . " 6 turning 4 burning" http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u.../b-36_b-29.jpg

If you want to see and hear a B-36 in flight, get a copy of the 1955 movie "Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewart.

Here's an early B-36B with arctic red markings. Six 4,360 cubic-inch 28 cylinder radial engines. Four rows of seven cylinders in each engine, 56 spark plugs per engine. Incidentally, the B-36 was considered to be overpowered, even before the twin-jet pods were added to the outboard wings. (This one does not have the jet pods.)

Here's the one-and-only cargo version, the XC-99, landing at San Diego in early 1948. This airplane still exists at the former Kelly AFB in San Antonio. One of the C-99's original main wheels, seen here before conversion to multiple-wheeled main gear, is on display at the USAF Museum at Dayton and it is over six feet in diameter.

If you are into aircraft - old and new - and get to Reading Pa in June - this is a show you won't want to miss.
Besides dozens of WW II aircraft there are military planes from the Viet Nam era through today's modern ships.
You can even get a ride on B-17 Flying Fortresses!
I have attended this several times and it has been great - unfortunately due to my sons AAU Basketball commitments I have not made it to the last couple of shows - but friends told me last years show was massive.

Check out their web site:

Just received these last night from my brother in Phoenix. He hoped to be starting the wiring restoration on the B-17 soon. Present are B-17 "Sentimental Journey", B-17 "Liberty Bell". B-25 "Maid in the Shade" and I believe TB-25J "Ole Gray Mare" (is that where she got her name from.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif ). Nice gathering of WWII bombers.
Rick
