Minty unused 1965 edition complete, with a spare Bad guy.

Still have mine. Parents bought it for me at a shop in the Fisher Building in downtown Detroit. No box, bad guy missing and for some reason I felt the need to color the pop-top roof panel black.

Could this be the line at AO Smith?

Strange 427 Green Cobra in the add. It has a 289 style exit before the tire exhaust and front braced roll bar. The only 427 I know of with a front braced roll bar is CSX3002 and that has a 289 style front scoop.

That is probably not a real 427 Cobra. Shelby was famous for his ads showing artists renderings of his non-existant Cobras. In the beginning, that's all he had. No reason to change his marketing approach when he adds the 427 model.

----Wish I could remember more about my cousin's 427 Cobra comp car as it was serial #3. I road in it several times, and he throughly scared me to death more than once. It was a raced car and was said to actually have been sponsored by Shelby which was rare. Believe it or not, he decided to sell it so he could buy a Pantera. It is to this day a sore subject with him.
----Tim,,, You probably have the club book with all the various Cobra's listed by serial #. I'm pretty sure he is still listed as the owner in that time period. Soon after I went to work at Classic Motors the boss came to me and asked if I had a relative named Dave. I said yes and he said he had just bought the car from a guy outside of Washinton DC. We had the Cobra restored and ultimatly sold it. I know where the car is today in N.J. and it's not for sale, not that I could even remotely afford it now.
----When my cousin had 3003 for sale he offered it to me for $5500. I had a new 427/435 Corvette coupe and didn't have a dime to spare. Even though I tried to borrow the money, no one would trust a dummy like me so I had to pass. It should be a sore spot with me, but strangely it isn't......Bill S
