The yard with the cars in rows is in Spruce Grove, Alberta. They build hot rods and other cars, so it's not really a wrecking yard. I have a few photos posted in this thread of that yard, but none that good! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
[b] Found this '67 yesterday - It is owned by a guy who had brought it over his friends house to put a
spool in it. While it was there the owner died - its been sitting there a few years - the owners Mom doesn't know what to do with it, not wanting to sell it too cheap - so it's sitting and deteriorating - it has a 468 crate motor with 2 runs on it. Has a full cage, supposed to be a 9.90 car - ran in the 10's and broke the rear first and only time out with the new motor. The son of the caretaker of the car let me look it over, but didn't want me to take the hood off, so I don't know what the car really is. Trying to make a deal! - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v094-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v093-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v092-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v090-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v091-1.jpg - - This is the other guys car - son said it was going on E-bay has a 440" for it in the garage - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v096-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v097-1.jpg - - Unusual color on this Chevelle - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...tos/v089-1.jpg - |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Whttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gifW...great bunch of cool stuff today!.
What a clean '52 delivery...you guys ever seen the Canadian Ponchos on this body style?. Love the '61 Post...tops of my wanted list for years 2'nd only to the Canadian Chevy powered '61 Poncho Strato.. Sorry if wrong on the others but the older Chevy a '48, the 442 rag a '71, the two older 442's are both '65's...looks like a '68 in between the white '65 and the Vista?. Love the GM 'old look' city transit bus...these were in most towns across North America and I used to ride them as a kid in Oshawa & Toronto.. The bigger bus is the famous 'new look' GM "Fishbowl" which first appeared in '59 and still operating in many of our citys...still a couple in the active fleet here in Peterboro' Canada and I've been onto our local Transportation guy for a couple years to save at least one before it's too late.. Hey Dog, any good news on that '67 SS yet?. And on long threads like these, I'm not missing some way to make the most recent page appear first am I?. ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

[/ QUOTE ] I had the same flashback when I saw those buses. Both types were prevalent in the '60s and '70s in the SF East Bay, used by AC Transit. I rode them all the time! Fare was 10 cents when I was a kid and went up to 15 cents during my high school years '76-'80. I can still hear those deisels climbing the hill behind my house and the brakes howling on he way back down. |

[/ QUOTE ] No news on the '67 - waiting for the caretaker to get hold of the Mom - he say's he wants it out - but from the looks of that yard - he doesn't seem to be in any hurry! Keep on 'em Dog...before someone else finds it!.
On the long threads, are you saying your computer takes you to the last page or just the thread?. After clicking on the thread itself, I have to click on the furthest right number before the show-all and keep doing this so it goes by ten pages at a time until reaching the end, then on the final page.. I can't help hoping there's a better way...anyone???. That delivery's sure a sweet unit...the color looks the same as a '67 Chevy truck I bought for parts back in the 70's.. I always remember it as driving home it was leaking brake juice and I stopped and pissed in the master before it hit bottom...sorry if anyone here ended up w/ it and bled the system later!. Here's a link w/ a pic of a Canadian Pontiac Delivery...hope it works.. http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=ht...l%3Den%26sa%3DN ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
It highlights any thread I haven't read, shows the number of posts I haven't read on that thread, and clicking on it will bring me to my first unread post. still https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
When I was about 14 we stayed the summers up in the mountains in Stormville NY. There was a '57 Ford 2 dr V-8 post in the barn that I had to get running. It had no fluid in the master so I filled it will the only fluid I had - 30 wgt oil. Then I dragged it to the top of the hill with the tractor and off I went. It was an automatic so it didn't fire up until about 35 mph. Trying to stop to turn around I jabbed the brakes and the car made an instant right turn into one of those NY stone fences! |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
the yard in Washinton was called "Vintage", its long gone I think about 8/10 yrs now, he had some neat old stuff, being into muscle it didnt really interest me at the time I had to work on a '66 Bird that came into the shop and he had the power window motor we needed, I went out there and the parts guy was cool so I got a tour, he had a ton and I mean a ton of NOS model A,T Ford stuff, plus tons of other NOS stuff, it was on Costco style racks floor to ceiling, it was a jaw dropper how much neat stuff he had, I dont know where it all went though.
B. |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I have an early '70s Rod & Custom with a feature article on Vintage parts here in the Seattle area. Lots of early Ford stuff. I think it was on Aurora Avenue just north of Seattle, right Bud?
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
that was Lincolns, lots of Old Vettes and all Muscle in there they were on about 117th and Aurora...cool place, guys liked me I had run of the place even the back rooms that were off limits, another joint that had tons of NOS stuff, Loyd was the vette dude he had a ton of stuff stashed as well at home, not being into vettes not sure who ended up with his stuff?, he was kinda up in age back then and he has to be gone now??? really sad part is there land was soaked in oil the epa was after them and all the cars were sold or crushed late 80's if i recall right, and they had huge yard about a block square over In edmonds no one new about but a few locals that was nothing but tri 5 chevs, at that time of life they were almost worthless, i was told all were crushed even the verts, I have never run across anyone that said they got anything from that yard other than trinkets they would transfer over to the main store, no one was allowed in it, pretty sad , Verl's house was built right above it and could over look it when at home he was the GM for Lincolns, he had a neat old Lime Green Shelby to among other stuff, interesting guy.
Vintage was a few Miles from me in Woodinville, its a pretty neat boat place now I get most of my sled stuff from them. here is a link you can see parts of the old building and the huge yard. http://www.3riversmarine.com/used_boats |
