Here is a vintage Drag'n Tach by SunPro. NOS in the box. I believe this was more early 1980's than 70's but its still cool.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Lot's of neat old NOS parts everyone. Post more.
Some old NOS Moroso. The early VC wing bolts had a knurled handle and the handle was anodized aluminum. Ones made later were not knurled and are all gold and were cast potmetal. Moroso went the street route and made them for mass consumption just like Cragar made the Street Super Tricks. Moroso has discontinued the gold anodized stuff for some years now. The valve cover breather are later 70's packaging. Can't believe this stuff is 35+ years old. I remember it hanging on the speed shop walls. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/...IMG_2014-1.jpg |

Early MSD boxes are starting to come on strong. Here is an NOS MSD-6. Your 6H is very rare-don't often see many out there.I never understood why MSD made a special HEI only box as the box that I have fits both points and HEI unless it was ease of hookup. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/...S/IMG_2150.jpg |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I probably posted this one before in this thread, but since we are talking early MSD, I really think this one is cool.
http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...x/earlyMSD.jpg I would guess this would be 1970-1973 vintage. I think I remember reading on another forum how the MSD company was looking to collect these old boxes as part of an Anniversary display. I think they were soliciting a trade for modern equipment and a lifetime warranty. |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
That old gold MSD box is neat.
MSD still rebuilds some of the old boxes but there are some parts that are no longer available so if the part in yours is bad you might be out of luck. They can put in new digital guts but the wiring/hookups is newer in appearance |

I think these might fit the bill -
We weren't big on aftermarket wheels (those are 15x6 and 15x7 Corvette rallys) , but the tow bar brackets are definitely "day 2" - http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...O/000_5516.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...O/000_5515.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../GTO/69GMC.jpg ...and the Sun tach, and S/W gages under the dash have been in the same spot for 47 years - http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...O/100_2076.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...O/100_0067.jpg Tow bar brackets still work, too - http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...x/100_0325.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...x/100_0328.jpg Not mine; some "mild customs" sitting out front of Bob Longpre Pontiac - http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...01_resized.jpg If I understand correctly sidepipes are "day 2" http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...001/img078.jpg "Lapeer International Dragway"- http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...apeerdrive.jpg |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Dang, I missed getting a pic today of, not a muscle car, but a total throw-back to the '70's on my way into work today:
A 1970's Dodge Van, shortened quite a bit, black with old school flames, chrome reverse Cragar S/S's in 15x10 on the front and 15x12 on the rear, and a (Cadillac or ?) full-width taillight across the bottom of the rear below the doors, lol. I almost couldn't believe it as I haven't seen a custom van in forever. Couldn't get my phone out quick enough, dang it! |

This is my LS6 Chevelle on Day 2, Ansen slots on the rear and big Polyglas meats. The HURST shifter and ANSEN nhra approved blow-shield the original owner installed in its first summer are still on the car. DAOUST license frame is still with the car as is the DAOUST key fob. I got the old pics from the original owner Jim Johnson.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Would this be considered Day 2?
Or not really because there are no old speed parts on it. 1973 PHR cover car being freshend up at The Roadster Shop. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ure20753-r.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ure20754-r.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture218751.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture218725.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture218719.jpg |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
they look like mickey thompson to me.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Does Mark Vogt still own this Nova? I have spoken to him several times about the car. he sent me some of pics back in the day and I letter gave them to Frank (Hychvy) because the car is from his neighborhood.
If it is the same car it looks better with the Grump Lump scoop. |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
That is all I have on the car. I found these pics on the Lateral-g.net site under Roadster Shop misc. project pics.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
The Roadster Shop keeps referring to the car as a gasser. It is not a gasser and never was. It was a street machine/streetfreak from day one.
Of course everything today is a gasser if it has a straight axle. The term is so overused. |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Hi guys, quick question: what did guys like Jenkins do back in the day in terms of hoods when they ran tunnel rams - steel or fiberglass, and if they were fiberglass, were they bolt-on or lift-off/pin-on?
Edit: it's so awesome that Day 2 has its own section now! |

Edit: it's so awesome that Day 2 has its own section now! </div></div> Most of the racers ran the lift off/pin on, thin fiberglass hoods. This is a generalization but in the early to mid 70's probably the most common set up of all if you ran a TR on the street was the stock steel hood with a molded in fiberglass scoop but later in the 70's people started to go to the all fiberglass hoods or kept the stock steel hood with no hood scoop- ala the TR sticking up out in plain site where they could be seen. Most street cars if they did run a fiberglass hood ran a thicker fiberglass that bolted on the regular hood hinges and used hood pins up front. There was just so many steel/ fiberglass/ scoop/ no scoop combinations but as said I feel the most common was scoop pre '75 and no scoop after for some years-on the street. Race cars always seemed to use scoops-just the scoop shape changed over the years. When Pro Street started going overboard in the early 80's when cars were running those funny car style cages etc they went back to running aero scoops with thin pin on fiberglass to emulate Pro Stock cars. |

VFN makes good hoods. Not sure if they make a flat pin on model or not. I also heard good things from the company out of Florida. US Body Source or something like that. 2. Surprisingly, no one makes an accurate Grump Lump at this time. |

Pete.....if you look around at swap meets or on craigslist you might find a hood like the one hanging in my garage.
I bought mine a couple years ago at Jefferson Swap Meet. Kurt http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/100_3425.jpg |

Yours looks good because the scoop goes nearly all the way towards the front of the hood. Some were way to short. |
