Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
John,
No offense, but that's a thin coat of black paint over everything. Not dealer undercoating. Verne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Here's an example of dealer undercoating (mid-cleaning). Just as sloppy as Charley's original Z. and from the bottom up; not the top down. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...raneclipsm.jpg |

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but... I just scanned through the whole thread and did not see any pics of the leaf springs from underneath. Charley, did the rear springs have tags? Also, was there a color stripe on front of rear of the spring by the eye?
Thanks for sharing so many pics of such an amazing find. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Wow, that interesting, an automatic Z-28 with manual steering. I wonder how may were delivered that way?

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
I ordered my first 70 Z new with auto (in the tree) and I believe power steering.......No stats on any of these combos in Z-28's
Would be interesting to read more about, how original owner came to choosing M-40, manual steering etc etc.......... Also was it ever disclosed after original owner parked this Z-28, what he replaced it.......?????? Thanks, |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
He was driving his Impala past the Dealership heading home from work and saw the Z28 sitting on the Showroom floor.
I know someone who has a Citrus Green Black vinyl top back interior Column Shift Z28 for sale. |

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Lynn, Yes I found Yellow on my 68's (F-body)
It was more on the sleeve and orange on the tie rod ends. Crud my car had colors all over it,,When I asked about this John Z mentioned that they were not uniformly applied as some cars were pulled and audited and received additional inspections,,,, Jim |

My 08A '69 had no inspection marks on tie rods. Both spindles had paint dabs, one red (almost orange) and the other white. I always assumed those were there just to distinguish left from right during assembly. Also had the green PTB on the firewall, but I could only make out the P and the B. Don't know if the T got washed off, or was never applied. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
I decided to try to make one of the assembly line style oil filters. First run was so so. I need to make another screen for bolder letters. I did not have measurements so the size was a best guess. I also need screen ink that does not set up as fast the current paint. It probably would have been faster to just make clear labels.
