Found this on another site, but unfortunately don't know the time or the story. If you look closely, you can see the 'Bird emblems at the bottom of the fenders, the big drum brakes and, most telling, the 15" spinner wheelcovers that only came on hipo Galaxie500XL's. You will also see the front tires look unworn, while the rear is almost bare. This is almost certainly a 1964 Ford Galaxie500XL likely fitted with the R-code 425hp 427 or possibly the Q-code 410hp 427 that was parked in a lake or river sometime in the mid '60s. My guess is that the owner bought it, beat it, and decided the 427 could find a home in a lighter car and he could be relieved of payments if he reported it stolen.

This one is close to my house. It's a 67 396/325 car without original motor.
The car was bought at an estate auction many years ago. A friend of mine was
at the auction and bought a 67 vert, he bid on this car but did not bring enough
cash to keep bidding. Later he found out that the auction co. would take a check.
I stopped by one day about 5 years ago and talked to the owners brother. Left my
card and told him if he ever decided to sale to please call. He has not called and
the car is still there.

No, this is actually a Mopar.

There will be pictures at MCACN and it should be in Hot Rod next month.

If that's an original Cobra then yes. I'd love to shoot it. That's on my "Barn Finding Bucket List".

And about the Camaro in NC. That is sad to see. I might stop by there next time I visit in February. Hopefully he will atleast let me shoot the car!

Does my own car count? I finally started it and took it for a ride around the driveway after being up on stands for 6-1/2 years. Hasn't been on the road since 1998. It has 7900 Sunday-only miles on it.

It is an original magazine project car from 20 years ago.
