Re: zl1 aluminum heads,fresh 074s

Pete paid for a set of Heads in Good Faith as they were represented as Virgin Heads...(They Weren't)......Sent them back....He now has "Nothing"......Chuck has both the Heads "And" the Money........With a so called Packaging Issue as reason for not refunding Pete's money....
First of all.....I have never met Pete or Chuck so I have no dog in this Fight......But.......If I were Pete I would really be Pissed at this point.......If Chuck would have represented these Heads Correctly, I'm sure there would have been no "Issues" ....."And"...I'm sure Chuck knows the Difference between Ported and unported Heads.....So....Either he didn't look at them close enough to see that they were Ported....."Or"??????????
Either way.....Chuck is where this problem "Started"......"And" if he cares about his reputation and fellow "Car" guy's, this should never have gone this far or taken this long........Obviously......Chuck is just in it for the "Money"..........Too Bad.......
Again.......Just my $.02 and a situation I'm very sorry to see on this site........

Ken

Id say if everything you posted above is true and correct as you know it to be first hand, your fine. If its not, litigation just may be in your immediate future.

People that aren't directly involved in this transaction need to refrain from posting when they don't know the facts. Pete has asked for his money and Chuck has said in a PM to Pete he has sent it.

Out of respect for Pete I did not want to appear to hi-jack this post. Ken you have my respect for asking the questions. If litigation from Chuck does come your way, you are welcome to my records of my experience with Chuck if that helps. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking that I ended up with an expensive misunderstanding and it was a lesson learned. After reading this whole post I now wonder.

Mark, You should have mentioned you had an issue when you requested the pics of my 69 camaro 6 weeks or so ago on the phone.

Re: zl1 aluminum heads,fresh 074s

Chuck you validated my point. I do not remember the request but I think this post is less than 6 weeks old. Like I said I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I took the last transaction as a very expensive misunderstanding and a lesson learned. Ken only asked a question and offered his view point on a thread that you started. To bring up litigation for that is just not right in my opinion.

[/ QUOTE ] Well since you brought up our dealing, that was a year ago.So six weeks ago you were "happy" enough to ask me for pictures of my 69 camaro.???? I still dont have a clue what your problem was with it other than assuming since i made out better you hold a grudge.Send me a PM so we both know what you are talking about. After all,if you want to pile on,at least admit you too never said a word to me about anything prior and a year has passed, So why decide today to say something. I never complained about getting Z28 pullies that you owed me, when you said they were L78s [about a 400.00 loss for me]and i waited a month for them . That stuff happens, yes i know. But when i do it,the assumption is I knew better and did it on purpose. But when someone else does it,they can say they didnt know the difference and all is well.I never would have mentioned it here if you didnt make your post today. Maybe I should look back at that a year later and say "I should have known"? Lets face it,the minute i sold the Elky for more than you were able to,you were upset. The reason you didnt say anything is you knew YOU were the one that wanted to trade,i only agreed. The only "lesson learned" is maybe you should not blame others for your decisions.

Re: zl1 aluminum heads,fresh 074s

Pete I am sorry but I never intended this post to be about my problems with Chuck in the past. But I need to respond and then hopefully this can go to bed. Chuck, I never called. I would have e-mailed you instead. I am not sure if I even have your phone number any more. The bottom line is that I am past all this and I would not have cared if you sold it for one million dollars. But you told me that you were going to restore the el camino with your son. Instead you sell the rolling shell with the bare block and trans case and you keep all the other L-78 specific parts because you can make more money by parting the car out. Every time I see a Jan.1969 to May 1969 COPO or L-78 part for sale from you I wonder if it came from this car. You can say all you want but I know what was said to me, I believed it and I was deceived. As far as the pulleys go that is what came off of the car. I have no other factory deep groove pulleys in my garage. Now if you want we can go into what was said to me on the condition of the Nova versus what I received on another thread.

I'd decided not to get involved with this thread, until I came in and read this. I'm not going to go into the purchase, and problems that were involved with my getting the ElCamino into my garage, and getting the title in my name, but I will say this. Mark Sheppard is one of the most upstanding guys I know, and I've known him for many years. Mark's credibility is second to none. I did buy the car from Chuck, knowing most of the original parts were gone, but also knowing I had the resources, and determination, to but the car back to it's original condition, when it was new. It's just a shame, as far as I'm concerned, to part out an original unrestored 69 L-78 ElCamino, just to make a few bucks.

[/ QUOTE ] Bill did you ever feel compelled to pay for the extra parts and keep the car intact?? You were offered it bare bones and cheap,or complete with all parts, and you chose cheap. Again, my fault.

Re: zl1 aluminum heads,fresh 074s

You asked, so I'll answer your question. No, buying your overpriced parts was never an option, and still isn't today. How was I to know I would be getting the original parts anyway? You could, and probably did, stick the original parts on a shelf with 100's of other parts, and how would I know what I'd be getting? I can, and did buy parts from a lots of guys. Some good friends even gave me parts.

After the disaster, trying to pick the car up, not even getting a key, trying to drag the car into the trailer with no way to steer it, and the fact that you couldn't even put air in the flat tires, I'd had about enough at that point. Just sell off the rest of the parts Mark sent with the car, and thats the end of it. I hope it was worth it for you. I'll be just fine. The car is well on it's way to completion, and I'm sure it will be everything it was back in 1969.
