Re: Vettefest Pic's
What a blast,i had drool coming off my chin the whole time!
Great folks and amazing cars.We might have the good weather out west, but the midwest is THE place for chevy muscle. Definitely not my last Vettefest-besides I'll need an excuse to go back to Gibson's steakhouse! My dig cam sucks, this was the only pic that came out half decent- http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/mistyls6.jpg If this car had white guts I would consider selling my house and moving into a double wide to have it- stunning is an understatement. Great meeting nice people like Don,Judy,Annie,Warren, and all the other SYC members.Bart(47 hammer) took some great shots of the LS6 showcase but he's busy it's his birthday today. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gifHappy B day Bart! |

Re: Vettefest Pic's
I finally got a breather and wanted to sit down and thank all the people that helped bring the showcase to a reality. We all had a great time and it came together way better then expected with virtually no issues considering the amount of time we had to put it together. I could not have done it alone and the participants made it easy as EVERYONE was terrific in helping! Thanks especially to Bob and Vicki for all the help and understanding and for putting up with me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
Besides all the participants who spent considerable time and money bringing their cars to the show, I especially wanted to thank Paul Raidna for trailering the Dick Harrell Camaro some 32 hours (on an open trailer mind you), Kevin Biermann for bringing the knock out T-K display (and Albert for putting up with him on the drive https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ), Al Wagner for gathering 5 of the nicest 71 LS-6 Corvettes in the country, Andy, Corey and Tom for allowing me to "tweak" Red Alert with some jack stands, Cumby for getting the X-mas tree from Whitehall Dragaway and bringing it to the show as well as making my decals and more business cards, Annie for all her help in phone calls, e-mails, purchasing and bring the carpet to the show as well as allowing me to "borrow" her truck and trailer so that I could get the Pilot car back home, helping me set up the showcase and also the convertible display, cleaning the Pilot car and convertible and most of all for putting up with me the last two months. Lastly to all the participants who helped pull this off, you guys were great. I fully intend to do this again in the very near future with all your help once again and with an even better display including memorabilia, another restored chassis and drivetrain (thanks Don for delaying your restoration so you could bring this one), more photos and signage and try to outdo Dan and his display. His Showcase was a fantastic collection and I don't think I ever saw Dan sit down and relax and was always helping everyone. Here are some shots I took. I only managed 32 photos all weekend due to time constraints. One of my customers, Dennis Lang, experienced his first ever car show with a car and was amazed at the quality of the cars. He was a little taken aback and told me he thought he was out of his leaque even though he met some outstanding people who treated him like anyone else. Dennis not only scored a Gold Spinner but also a Top Gun and had a blast. Other winners that I know if were Paul Raidna (DH Camaro), Howard Cox and Nick Bigioni. If there were others, please let me know. Most of the participants elected to not have their cars judged such as the convertible. However, Nick's convert was given a Club Pick award from Fox Valley Corvette Club which was quite a compliment in my opinion. Thanks guys! Between the sYc and the individual showcases, we have really helped to bring VetteFest where it is today and I think it will only get better with people like you guys! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...n_IMG_2736.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...n_IMG_2728.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...n_IMG_2727.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...n_IMG_2725.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...n_IMG_2724.jpg |

Congrats Rick! I know how much work you went through to get those cars there. From everyone I've talked to that went, it was a winner. Maybe next time I can make it.

Re: Vettefest Pic's
Coming from a restorer like yourself, that is a pretty nice compliment. I am just glad you did not have your convert there this time....... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif It would have made me look bad. However, you can count on being at the front in the next showcase with your convert.
Here are a couple of shots of the car just after it was pulled from the original owner's garage and about the time it should have been put in my garage and in my name. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n.../NicksLS61.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n.../NicksLS62.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n.../NicksLS67.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n.../NicksLS65.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n.../NicksLS69.jpg |

Rick,
Had a great time at the show. All your hard work paid off. Thanks for inviting me and my T/K LS6 Junk. We drove all night home to NJ with that Fathom Green Malibu close behind. Should have slept somewhere, but Albert had to be home before lunch time. BTW, I think I need a new 3500 Duramax Dually. What a nice hauler Albert has. Made my job look easy. |

Re: Vettefest Pic's
Just out of curiousity; why would that LS-6 Pilot car need to be restored? If it's all original wouldn't it be wiser to leave it as is? From the pictures that car looks great just as is.

Re: Vettefest Pic's
The car has already been through a minor restoration a few years back. Still looks pretty good to me too, but the current owner evidently wants it to be better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

66 chevelle convert, and a Farmall M. And a 63 Impala SS that could be bought. You're on the list.

[/ QUOTE ] If it still had it's original paint I would have left it alone. I was talking with Harry Snow at SVF,he located this car in 1990,knew it was a very early build and bought it from a classic car lot. He found the first sheet-it still had original paint very unmolested intact smog pretty sure motor had never been out. It traded hands a few times and as Dennis alluded to receieved an amateur level frame on in the mid nineties. It's missing a few minor items but has great bones and all all there. I have enjoyed it in it's current condition, but if any LS6 deserved the full monte it has to be this one. I could care less it's an auto and green,or that i'm going to be buried in it when finished. It's a historically significant car and while some could care less about that provenance i am honored both to own it and have Rick bring her back to assembly line condition. If timing works out on the restoration I am going to shoot a video of the car with the GM exec who ordered and took delivery-forty years to the day after it was built. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
