Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Was the Yenko stock numbers
( door jam numbers on the tag ) assigned to a car: ...When the car was ordered from chevrolet? ...or when the conversion took place? ....or is there another answer? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Anything ever come of this car?
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Well us guys who ship things overseas still refer to the shipping lines as steamships... sorry... a little outdated... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Your not outdated - Ocean going vessels are still referred to as Steamships - the shipping companies still call themselves Steamship Lines

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Do you know how hard it is to get containers coming into the country?
There is so much crap coming in that the charges going out are so cheap... it costs me $415 to ship a container from Charleston SC to Hong Kong... it costs $650 to get it from Greenville SC to Charleston SC... On the other hand.... it costs about $4000 from Hong Kong to Charleston... |
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
wicked shortage of cargo containers going on currently here in the US
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
From the finder of the car, posted on Team Camaro...
"i have more pictures i will post them soon , i got the yenko number from the door jam its ys 8027" |
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
If this is the YS# for the car....the VIN doesn't match the list. Is this a common occurence? How accurate have the VIN/YS# been over the years when cars are found? Which is more common to be correct on the list as it stands now, VIN or YS#?

Yes, the VIN and YS numbers should and better correlate. Rick H. |

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
The door tag numbers on 68 camaros delivered to Jay Kline. Did not match the vin list. They were mixed among the six cars delivered. It was probably common for them to be mixed on each shipment. Who ever put them on the cars. Did not seem care if they matched car number to vin on the paperwork. Earl

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
There are 2 67 Corvair Stingers that are that way that I know of that went thru Kline. I sent copies of the Span paperwork to Charlie Doerge years ago on them.
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
There were also some '67 cars on Yenko's original '68 lists I believe also...(I'll defer the actuality of that to Marlin, as those early lists always make my head hurt!LOL!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif)

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Both Rob and Earl are absolutely correct! The record keeping and stock number asignments were not exactly a science back then!
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
So did they assign the numbers to the car
....once the converion was made? or ...when the car was ordered for the factory? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |

We all know and understand the Webster definition, we'd like to know why you think the VIN & YS should match up to a list?

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
There was a red on stashed in a shed in Georgia years ago I was getting calls on. Many people passed on that one at the time. Is this the same car?. That's the first 68' I have seen without the deluxe wheel..BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
That IS a deluxe wheel isn't it?
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
My mistake. I thought the wheels with the chrome three spoke shroud in the center was also called a deluxe wheel, and the above was the N30 deluxe wheel, as opposed to the standard wheel that had no shroud.

Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
There was a Red '68 Yenko at A&B auto parts in Waycross Ga a few yrs ago. I heard the owner traded it for a restored Pace Car & the 68 might be in the midwest. Doesn't Gary H have a Red, unrestored 68? Could that be the same car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
It does look like it has an extra hole in the inst cluster for the Tach foot and also on the firewall there looks to be a screw where the sending unit would be. Sure would be nice to get a NICB report...
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
I HAVE FOLLOWED THE ASTORY A LITTLE BIT BUT I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THE IF THE CAR IS A REAL YENKO OR NOT. COULD SOME TEL ME IF IT IS A REAL YENKO ?
THANKS |
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
It appears that it is https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif It's listed in the 'cars for sale' thread.
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
Yes Les it is a real Yenko...
|
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
And expecting the MM tag is genuine, it was a Copo 9737 even before Yenko put his magic to it..

Does anybody have pictures of that car? Didn't the nephew of the owner put it on ebay a few years ago? I heard that someone checked it out. |
Re: 68 Yenko Barn find
I believe Gary had a red 68 at one time. Not sure if it's still there, or not.
