Re: Winter Project...
Thanks Rick, I figured it may have had something to do with the revisions but I could not figure out how to decipher it.. That makes sense...

Re: Winter Project...
Tom, I like the windshield washer monitor fiber optic setup. I just noticed it looking at the pictures. I have one on my car they are neat!!

Re: Winter Project...
There is a small indicator light that mounts under the dash...near the e/brake handle...this was part of the auxillary lighting package I beleive...cool little unit.

Re: Winter Project...
I saw one a couple of years ago at a dealership in Pa. How did that thing work? Did the light get brighter as the fluid went down?
|
Re: Winter Project...
Basically A styrofoam float followed the level of the windshield washer fluid.
A paddle having a green & red lens on top of it would shift in front of a dimly lit bulb. When the level was low the color red would illuminate. When it was full, the color green would illuminate back into the sight lens mounted under the dash, notifying the driver of this. All this via a fiber optic line. This option actually had 3 different designs, all varied on what time period throughout 1970 you received it in. You could order it seperately as RPO CD-2,or with the Auxillary Lighting group as ZJ-9. |
Re: Winter Project...
Thanks for the info! I guess that wasn't too accurate on a bumpy road, but hey it was early technology. Cool. Just like the traction dispensing compound option that wasn't too popular on the Camaro's. I have only seen one of those units in a Camaro.

Re: Winter Project...
That too was a https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif option.

Re: Winter Project...
Looks like you are ready for the Winter like Tom is! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Nice display. Please forgive me Tom. It's still all about the Nova's.

Re: Winter Project...
Jed, that windshield washer monitor light unit was a one year stint only for 1970. Chevy realized later that those things would freeze up in the winter time and the float assemblies would crack. I guess there were a lot of unhappy chevy owners who returned their cars to the dealerships after this happened for a warranty on the part so they scraped the idea for 1971..

Tommy, That is a great looking car!! Looks like you are taking care of business this winter. Bring this car to the shows. Leave those cookie cutter restored cars at home. They all look alike. This car got some personality!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Winter Project...

I loved seeing Joe Demesy's cars and the rest of those survivor L78's at Vettefest! That was my favorite section. Chris's black Camino was killer too! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: Winter Project...
Bob, What week in November was the car built...??? what is the assembly date on the engine..??? I won't be able to get those fan bolt pictures for a couple of days, will measure the hose then, too...tom
|
Re: Winter Project...
Tom the engine assembly date for the engine off the protecto plate is 11/10 of 69 and the build date is 11D.The body number is 23532 and the car was sold thru Maurice Carter Chev Olds in Hamilton Ontario. Bob

Re: Winter Project...
Bob, that carb should be OK....all of these components were made in batches, that's why you see so many commn dates. I've seen a lot of BB carbs with Nov. and Dec. dates...does your car have the original CW coded trans..???

Re: Winter Project...
Yes the car still has the original transmission Cw and the original rear end along with the original block.Bob
