$239.49 for a Berger emblem?! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
I bought one for $45 this past winter, and it was for sale without having to bid for it. They must have wanted it really, really bad. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Talked to the original owner last week. He said he went down to Berger Chevy and there was 2 69 Post Chevelle's there an Orange and a Garnet Red one, and he picked the Garnet Red because he liked the color better. He is going to send me some pictures of its early days. He put cragers on it and Hi jackers and some performance mods.

Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Jeff,
Glad to see the Nova moved out and this Canadian SS396 Post Sedan Chevelle is in at GS Restoration! This Chevelle will be one of the best SS396 Post Sedans Chevelle`s in the country. Wait I smell a BBB Skylark in that building? Dan. |

Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Got body off. The long process of doing the bodywork and the rust issues.
http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...e/DSCN0535.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...e/DSCN0539.jpg Intresting note there was no cushions for the body above the rear end housing from the factory. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...e/DSCN0562.jpg |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Another reason these cars were "Light Weights" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
I bet your car was built on a Friday.
Dan. |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
I believe those holes were for El Camino's and wagons only. Chevelles didn't get cushions on the rear crossmember.
|
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Bill
I will have to repectfully disagree with you on the cushions missing. I asked George @GS resto who has done 5 chevelles for me and several A body buicks and they were all on there. Whats interesting on my chevelle is that they put the cushions in the body mount right past the door opening on this frame where there is normally bolts. Who knows it may have been friday and they said WTF these will work aint my car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
I've dismantled/restored several Chevelles myself, and one 69 El Camino and none of the Chevelles had the cushions on the cross member. The El Camino did have the cross member mounts. They were used to support a load that could be put in the back of the ElCamino/Wagons. I guess it's possible that some Chevelles got them as they were heading down the line, but they weren't suppose to according to the factory assembly manual.
Here's a scan of the body mount page showing the rear cross member mounts as Wagon & Pick-up (ElCamino) only. http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/e...sc006b42f9.jpg |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Thanks for the picture Bill. My Chevelle is done exactly as the assy manual says it should be without the cushions on the crossmember, and that explains why there wasnt a bolt in position #3. Thanks for the info.
|
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
My thoughts exactly Jeff. By coincidence I was undoing my body mounts today, and was wondering were the mount bolt was for the #3 position. I evntually realized that there was none for that spot, and then - bang- this picture is posted by Bill.
By the way, I'm also doing a Garnet Red 300 deluxe post. |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Barry
Thats cool. You dont see too many Garnet Red post chevelles. Are you taking the body off? Maybe you can look and see if you have the cushions on the rear crossmember. |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
I'll check for them Jeff. The body is coming off the frame over at the body shop on Friday. Then I'm bringing the frame back home to re-do over the winter months.
My bodyman-painter used to own and drag race my car (B/S)about 30 years ago, so he's looking forward to this project. |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Well its about time you two Garnet Red Post Sedan owners speak to one another.
Dan. |

Jeff,
Will do, I'll see about getting some up on this thread. |
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
when you finally get around to that biscayne barry, you'll find 2 body mounts above that crossmember. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif
|
Re: Berger 69 post SS 396 Chevelle
Thanks Dave, I'd love to be doing the Biscayne up now also, but there's only so much time and money!
