From Iowa, please accept our condolences.

I lost my mother several years back after a long battle with cancer. I know the loss you are feeling all too well Bruce, Lynn, Holly & Gary but just remember, he is in a better place now and you will always have your memories of him and the times that you enjoyed together.

As it has been said before so many times in this post, if you need anything or if there is anything anyone here can do for you......................just make it be known and I am sure you will have more offers than you can accept.

Take care. Know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Bruce,,,The words just arent there but remember that your extended family is here for you. Pretty easy to see with these numerous posts. You have a lot of prayers besides yours going on in the backround, and help, if needed is as close as your phone. The values I have seen in you that I have admired have been passed down to you and will pull you and your family through.........Bill S

Re: Xplantdad

Bruce,

Our biggest and most important job as fathers is to raise our children to be strong, honest and god fearing. As evidenced by you, I believe your father was sucessful in this task. He has been called home to be with Our Father and prepare a place so that you all can be together again. Cherish the memories as they will help you through this. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

God Bless.

Thanks again from Gary and I to all of you. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

It is going to be rough for a bit...but our dad "rocked", too! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

We were fortunate to spend quite a while with him a couple of weeks back.

Gary and I thank you for all of your support. Words cannot describe how we feel!

By the way, I forwarded this to my step mom so that she could see "Who I hang with"

Here is her response:

I'm totally overwhelmed.

You obviously have other traits taken from him that make you so deserving of so many friends and people who care. I know he's looking down on you and saying, "Atta, Boy - you really are a chip off the old block!"

I'm fine now, but will let you know if I need you to come early. Of course, you know you can come anytime.

Love ya',
Ginger

Bruce,

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I too lost my father in 1999 and everytime I am out in the shop there are reminders of him everywhere. It was really tough to go out there at first, but it has gotten better as time has passed. Keep your chin up "headlight award winner".

Re: Xplantdad

Spoke with Bruce last night, he is doing his best to hang in there and obviously VERY, VERY much appreciates everyone's kind words and encouragements. The following is a partial copy of a PM he sent today:

Anyways, I called my step mom to see how she is holding up through all of this. She's doing really well...and is kind of glad for the peace and quiet. I don't know that it's fully hit her yet...

I did have a chance to ask her about a charity that my father supported...and she gave me this website as a place where people can donate in his memory if they'd like to. The person who runs this not for profit organization was my fathers best friend...and I had the honor to meet him and his wife while we were up north visiting my dad. It also makes sense...since my dad had some serious skin cancer stuff (as do I )...

http://www.skincaf.org/custpage.cfm/...12/sec_id/2812

The actual services will take place on August 11th in Gardnerville, NV. I don't have the exact time yet...but I will assume for now that it will happen at the Catholic church there. Sorry I don't have more info at this time.
Bruce

As I get more info, I will let all of you know.
Thank you all for being such a wonderful group of people!

I'd like to thank each and every person who posted here...called me...PM'ed me...It really means a lot, and truth be told, is making it much easier to deal with the passing of my dad.

He was a really neat guy...with lots of interesting things that happened during his lifetime. I am proud to be his son...and I am glad that I was able to spend the extended time with him recently.
