The AMC is running fantastic and my A/C works great. The 12- 12.5 mpg is a bit less then I expected with the 3:15 rear gears, but I'm having a blast.

If anyone see's my ugly mug walking by...give me a shout!

Oh Yeah! That's John Tinberg and his altered wheelbase Matchbash-style Chevy II. One of my favorite cars of all time. He did an absolutely outstanding job on that car. Even got a Jerico manual transmission in the thing. I just go nuts every time I see it.

I agree Mark. That car is just PERFECT!! IF those injection stacks are real, I imagine he's been spending a lot of time on the side of the road in the rain.

Met John Vettefest, super nice guy and neat car. He built the Nova using the March '66 issue of HotRod magazine that featured the Bill Thomas "Instant Funnycar" in it as a blueprint and did a remarkable job.

Plans are for John to have the car at SCR10 as part of the Nickey display, and if all goes well (on my end), I hope to have the orignal BT Nova there as well.

Last time I saw the car it had a 502 with the injectors converted to EFI. Verne, he fools around with 409 cars quite a bit and had a beautiful 1961 409 (fawn, i think) and a '62 Bel Air '09 also.

Tuesday afternoon: Just wanted to add that I just spoke with Dennis Thomas(lives in Springfield,IL). He is at Illinois State Fairgrounds and Hot Rod Power Tour. He is displaying his 71 Lime Green Z-28, parked along with Don Stowers Black 66 GTO, Mike Steitz(St Louis area) 70 Camaro SS, and Annie Hartweg/ Denis Cumby driving ??? (sorry spelling)........I am hoping they can find Jeff Betz who is driving the tour in his 502 Powered 69 Chevelle wagon along with his father. Jeff(FYI)is the lead judge at Camaros at Carlisle in charge of 2nd Gen LEGENDS Camaros, and lives in Macomb, MI.

John had a 62 pro-street 409 bubble that I went to look at a long before the Nova. Think he sold that quite a while ago. That Nove was EFI...

Bill, You are correct...I'm right here in Seattle. I've been keeping in touch with my Springfield friends, Dennis Thomas and Don Stowers via cell phone. As well I spoke to Jeff Betz Tuesday on his cell phone. Evidently he "blew up" his alternator and whatever Billet Specialties provides with there serpentine belt set-up is not easily replaced. Anyway Jeff said he detoured through Chicago, visited Billet Spec and got a replacement.

Got to put a few more names and faces together and, like I said earlier, had a perfect day. For any of you in the Evansville, Memphis and Little Rock areas, I HIGHLY recommend making every effort to stop in and see the show when they hit town. Some cool cars, and some very good people.

Can't say for sure about the Little Rock venue but when they were in Springfield the admission was free for spectators. There was a $20 charge if you wanted to bring your car in and be a part of the show (which we elected to do).

The times they gave us were Noon to 8 PM and the long haulers arrived throughout that time period. Being the final day, I would expect a big turnout, and a party atmosphere............... although some of the folks will undoubtably be plum wore-out! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Check your local radio stations. They advertised it heavily here.

I drove three cities in 05' (Springfield-Indy-Nashville) and then left the tour to stay for Chevellabration and do the Nashville Country Music Fan-Fest.
IF you are anywhere near the Power Tour route, I cant understand why a car guy wouldnt at least spectate......
