Re: OLD RACERS
More. I'm kinda partial to the big cars..
Al Lewis. This car exists today http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...SAlLewis62.jpg Al had 2 cars http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...tz/AlLewis.jpg Sweet '63 http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...ntz/D-MP63.jpg Joe Gardner. This car was destroyed. Ran under the record. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...tz/Gardner.jpg Here are some more of those Dragmasters.... http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...ragmasters.jpg Arriving at E-Town ('64 SS tow car) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...eFrantz/55.jpg This car may still exist. No connection to Gene Carter's Thumper '61 http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../57Thumper.jpg I ran this car......and lost. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...z/cmpVette.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gifVerne |

Re: OLD RACERS
Hey Vern, You should put yours on a CD too. Maybe both you guys hook up and do it. You should see the ones Don White (GTO-DON) has also. Killer photos, an album full! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif to you guys

Re: OLD RACERS
Sam,
I've been fortunate to call Joel Naprstek my friend, and most of the photos were given to me from him. In good conscience, I could never put them on a CD and make them available. He has a collection of hundreds if not thousands of old grass roots photos, not just "name" cars. He'd be the right one to put them on CD. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne |
Re: OLD RACERS
MAN.......Dog and Verne deserve 2 CHUBS https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif UP Keep them cuming!!!

Re: OLD RACERS
Finally found Gene Carter's "Thumper". It was one of only 142 '61 409s produced. (after Jan.) The body side molding insert is keyed to the interior color, which indicates 2nd half of the model year. Earlier cars were all black or white. Rumor says this car was destroyed, but I'm not positive of that. Car had the Walt Disney "Thumper" rabbit painted on the deck lid.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...tz/Thumper.jpg (I love this stuff) "Hey guys, let's tow the '61 409 car to the track with my new Super Sport!!!" http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...a409-61car.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...409-61car2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gifVerne |
Re: OLD RACERS
More old Jersey stuff:
This '60 Convertible was known as Benney and the Buzzard (or BuzzardI). It was Benny Richardson and Bruce Bazaz. Pretty sure this is Island. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...z/BUZZARD1.jpg This is '62 Island, and Bruce Bazaz' BuzzardII when it was owned by Danny Digiacomo(sp?) vs his main local competition at Island that year, the Coast Automotive/Reiman Dodge 413 called the Red Ram, run by a guy named Whitey . This car is now painted black and tucked away in a garage in NJ waiting to be re-born. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../BUZZARD62.jpg |

Re: OLD RACERS
The Strickler / Jenkins Hi-Performance Clinic
Back in the sixties / seventies GM would foot the bill for traveling performance clinics such as this one. A post card in the mail was all it took to bring out the loyal following. This was quite a show, Grumpy and Dave were both there with a bunch of cars and the latest GM high performance parts and accessories. Curry Chevrolet had the rest of the service department filled with the hot local street and race cars. It was not close by and unfortunately I forgot my camera in the rush to get there! Knocked but never went back - it was just an old Chevy back then!! http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/363043.jpg Saw this car with no motor or trans - laying on the ground at Mr Bigs Performance in Elmont a few years after this shot - was a nice car - hope it was saved - green & yellow flake |
