NICB documents would not show a dealer transfer, only dealer that the factory shipped the car to.

Gents
Do you really think that Joel would remember all the alterd
cars he worked on?? Its my opinion that if you have the original bill of sale for the work done you will get a letter.Or if Joel built the car yes he would remember and you would get a letter.
I have a signed witness statement from the original owner
of my 68 Camaro that Joel alterd the 396 camaro and installed a 427 short block in the car.I also have the second owner who told me it was a motion altered car and
a third person from Windsor area who told me the same thing. The first owner
holds a track record ( gave me a copy of the award)at the Detroit drag strip in 1969
went 10;45 in the quarter. Also have a news papper article
confirming a top bracket racing winner (king of the hill)
however I dont expect Joel to take a leap of faith and say that my car was a Motion alterd car,or Joels reputation would be just like the recent BJ fiasco.
The original owner gave me the original bill of sale for my car great person helped me restore my car by giving me lots of info and many stories of his legendary drag strip and street bruiser.
He also told me that somewhere in his house is the original bill of sale for the work that Joel did on the car.I pray every day that he finds it.
If he finds it I will be contacting Joel.
thats the way I see it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

Reading Peter's comments above brings back a question I've asked before...when Joel 'documents' a car, does he have Vins recorded he looks up or is he just going by what 'looks like' his work...or what?.

Just wouldn't want to see things end up like the C-C situation where after that last round of foolishness, it seems like all the genuine facts are now left in a drawer somewhere...or is there any updates to what's happening there now?.

My understanding is Joel does have some records, but not all of them. P.J. ...If I had what you have I would pay Joel and present my case to him.

Documenting any car without at a minimum of visual inspection is like Muscle car Russian Roulette. Cars can rise like a Phoenix where nothing existed prior, not even a vin or trim tag.

Just my rant, don't mind me.

Just wanted to update everybody about my car. I contacted the third owner again and they found a picture of car back from 1983 when second owner had car. You can see in the picture the car has traction bars and headers. It has a sticker in the rear qrt glass and I wanted to know if anybody know what it is? By the way the picture is dated Mar 1983.

Just wanted to updated everone. I received the letter today from Joel Rosen. I have tried to attach acopy but attempts seem to fail. Anyway this is how the letter reads. Dear Mr. Metelits
In regard to your 1970 Chevrolet Nova serial #114xxxx. As we have discussed in our many telephone conversations a search of our records and your statement that the car was sold new by a dealer other than Baldwin Chevrolet has eliminated the possibilty that the car was sold new by the baldwin Motion Performance Group. However with the pictures and numbers you have provided me with, I believe (as we discussed) the car was brought to us (Motion Performance Inc) at some period in it's life for modifications similar to those we did on Baldwin Motion cars.
Good luck with your musclecar. signed; Joel Rosen President of Motion Performance.
Also letter is on old Motion Performance Inc letter head address 598 sunrise Highway, Baldwin L. I. N. Y.

Robbie I would suggest NOT posting the letter from Joel as scammers may attempt to copy it for no good. Joel wont be around forever and we dont want to see dozens of "authenticated" cars in the future.
JMHO.

Cool Nova.. But I'll bet it didn't run lika Motion should thru that kinked 2" exhaust pipe off that glass pack. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Got any more pics? Love the vintage ones. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

JoeG 03-11-2007 08:11 AM

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

That kink or upward bend was probably due to the fact glasspack mufflers that bolt up right to the collector were used---being so close to the collector it just followed the downward angle so they bent or welded the pipe on an angle------Most of the guys cut the collector flange off the muffler and installed the muffler back further .................Very https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif photo and car....

I'll take it one more level. I would delete the posts that have the verbiage Joel uses when he "authenticates" cars. I agree that there will be guys copying this and making themselves some "letters from Mr. Rosen".

Amazing that is how he authenticates a car. No "yes we did work on that VIN number" or "I have a copy of the original paperwork".

I guess 2 grand doesn't get you too much!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 03-12-2007 07:23 PM

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

I hate to be the sceptic, but it appears that you have a motion block - but not necessarily a Motion car. The pic that was posted does not look like work performed by Motion, ie; traction bars with a few inches of air between the snubber and leaf, a non-motion sticker on the window etc.. For what it's worth, my first nova looked just like the one in that pic, bars, stickers, low hanging exhaust etc... but it certainly wasn't a Motion! Joel worded his letter quite well, but only says that it was brought to the shop for mods similar to what they did at the shop! I think you need to do more digging to conclude that the car is/was a later converted Motion.

lowmile 03-12-2007 07:40 PM

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

The block is matching numbers to the car and the block is a Motion block, wouldn't that make the car a Motion car? I agree more research would only help but I don't understand your last reply.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 03-12-2007 07:56 PM

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

Sorry, thought the block was a CE block -my bad.

lowmile 03-12-2007 08:06 PM

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

The picture is from 1983. The exhaust looks new to me. This picture may have been taken 10 or more years after it left Joel's shop. I messed around with the gap on my traction bars looking for that perfect hook on the street. I doubt the owner left this car untouched after years of street and track time. m
