Hey!!! That's a 731 interior, and it's in very nice shape - a rarity https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Better watch out, some deuce owner just might swipe those seats and leave you some custom covered ones https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Sweet ride and what a good investment. My wife has been been kind of hinting around she wants to drive my L78 68 nova.I told her this isn't no 6 cylinder trailblazer. She kind of laughed and said I know. That could be good or bad!!

As much as my wife gripes about my hobby, she's always one of the first to grab the keys and take off if with one of our older cars...in fact, she drove our Cortez Silver L78 Nova 4-speed ever day there for a while, and gave me crap when I sold it to a buddy of ours! She'd pass up the loaded Suburban with 496ci and jump in the Nova with a little 396 almost every time! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

1970 Chevelle L78 Olympic Gold

Hey Gang need your expert advice. I have watched this vehicle for awhile, and the seller has relisted it with a much lower reserve. I have moved on.

However I have a novice friend who would like to buy it for an investment. What is the opinion of this group. It is on ebay under the item number
Item number: 180000832435

Thanks
Mike

Buildsheet is highly suspect. Might have something to do with the lowered reserve.

Re: 1970 Chevelle L78 Olympic Gold

Kenneth this Chevelle has been discussed before. The Build Sheet (BS) is a forgery (numerous errors i.e. "M40 4 speed Auto Tran" . I would proceed cautiously with this one. I sent him an email regarding this the last time he listed and he has ignored my input. If he knew Chevelles at all he would know that the BS is <font color="red"> BS! </font> https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Well a little rear end maint this week revealed from what I can gather is the original rear axle and ring and pinion. The R&amp;P reads like this.
2 GM 3853010 11 39 7 69 I4
The rear axle code reads.
CBT 0829 G1 E
Posi plates need to be replaced as the fluid change didn't help the sometimes snapping when turning from a stop. Our Wynn's salesman gave me a synthetic kit to put in it for free,so I guess all that it cost me is another $3.00 gasket to reseal the rear end again.

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

The Novas are pretty neat. We drove to Houston two weeks ago and picked up a 1970 Nova L78 with bench seat and automatic transmission. The car has the original engine, transmission and 4.10 rear. It's black/black, needs some work, but essentially a nice original car. It belongs to a member of this forum.

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

4.10 rear? In a '70? What's the code https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

TimG 08-28-2006 07:31 PM

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

I'll need to check the rear. Original owner put a 4.56 in the unit for drag racing.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 08-28-2006 08:58 PM

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

Ok, I think the 4.10 rear in '70 would be a special ordered item - which is why I asked about the code. The Deuces have these special ordered rears with a unique code only found on the copo novas, but I would not be surprised if some big blocks with special ordered 4.10 rears would have received the same code.

TimG 08-28-2006 10:40 PM

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

Interesting, I'll find the code and report.

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

Kendall, get yourself a "Car Jacket" for that baby....looks like a big vinyl sleeping bag. You lay it out on the floor and drive the car on it, then cover with cloth cover and zip up the bag. They include moisture absorbing packets with the bag. I over inflate the tires, WD-40 as needed, dryer sheets in and out along with the moisture bags, remove battery, Sta-bil in fuel, good coating of rubber and vinyl treatment and some wax on the outside and put her to bed. You can get the bags from Wayne bushey at National Nostalgic Nova..717-252-4192. I use them on all our cars and they work great!!!

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

Kendall, I'm not talking about one of the capsules with the air pump and fan, though it is a good idea. The Car Jacket bag fits loose like an oversize car cover..I would probably use the capsules on some of the cars if I had the room. They are not that expensive..less than $250. Well worth the protection.

Re: 70 NOVA SS 396 4SPD

6161x11,Yes everyone should have a BB Nova. Its kinda funny about the color,I've always liked the blues light or dark it doesnt matter, but this car has grown on me from the instant the wife and I saw it.Just so happens that everything that we own is silver, gray,or pewter right now.If I had my way I would have a whole barn full like Tom Williams https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif.
Dennis,I will let you have the Nova for safe keeping this winter if I can have that ole' Black Chevelle for safe keeping during the summer https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif.I'll take real good care of it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif.I might even wax it without using a SOS pad https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif.
One thing I do know is that I need to get that engine out of that car before I hurt it.Mr Deuce is first in line for it so dont ask https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif.Its just to much fun to go out and drive it hard so before something happens to it I'm gonna do some serious looking at a crate engine that I can go out and abuse. The engine is worth more complete than with a rod out the side of it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif
Anyhow I just love the Nova and it would take something major to happen to get it away from me.
