Hey Darren,
I liked it with the Yenko stripes and whatnot, but I like it without them too!
How about a shot showing the wheels and tires? What size tires are on the back?

Re: X33 gets a brother.

Sam, Torq Thrust Ds are 15x7 in the rear with G70-15s. Fronts are 14x6 with F70-14s. Tires are redline Firestone Super Sports. I am going to put a set of Indy Profiles on the rear and reverse the front tires for the Day 2 look. Rear redlines might be up for grabs once I get the M/Ts.

Darren,

Great pics....they both look stunning together. Now they need another brother or sister. Start working on #3. Perhaps Yellow or Hugger Orange. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Darren.....didn't take ya long to get rid of those stripes. The car looks even better without them. Nice car bud!

I had the pleasure to talk to the 2nd owner of my car. He bought it in 72. He sent these pictures to me just now. How cool to see the car as it was back then. The only thing that was changed were the wheels. Everything else was still stock. Check it out.

Wow...these pics are far better than any of Xplantdad`s.

My opinion is if your going to bring her all back to original....than that means the spoiler too. I love it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Does anyone know, is that the stock exhaust exit?

Re: X33 gets a brother. VINTAGE PICTURES FOUND!

Frank- The car spent most of its life in Decatur Il. Someone prior to me did a title search so I have most of them. The guy that sent the pics said he has owned over 20 musclecars. Very nice fellow.

Dan- Short spoiler huh? Easier said than done. If 3M blue painters tape will cover up the quarter holes I might consider it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Sam- I was wondering that myself. Looks like the tips might have been removed??

Sam, I'm quite sure that ALL the 70 Camaro SS 396's got the chrome tailpipes......and I'm pretty sure the SS-350 (L-48) did also.....but need more survivor/original pictures.

My 72 SS 350 had chrome pipes when I bought it in 1978. The first time I replaced them I went to Baierl Chevrolet in Wexford PA and bought 3 new chrome pipes (all they had and all the counter man said they would ever have because of being discontinued), I put two on the car and saved one for future use and the hope that I could find one more. However I think the pipes I had were chrome from end to end not welded. I still have the one so I will look to see if I am correct about this. I think Gardner Exhaust makes the correct system for 70-73 with the chrome pipes.

OK, I found the pipe I think I bought 20+ years ago from a Chevy dealer. Could this be a aftermarket pipe sold by a dealer?

I wish I knew, Ray! Maybe someone could look up that part number that's stamped in and see if it's GM??

John Brown 05-16-2006 05:02 AM

Re: X33 gets a brother. VINTAGE PICTURES FOUND!

That's not a GM pipe. It was made by the AP/Merit/Goerlich corporation. They were all the same company and sold in different markets. I sold a lot of their chrome pipes for 69 and later Camaros. I still have one hanging in the rafters, along with some chrome Walker chambered exhaust for Oldsmobiles. One of the parts stores I worked for had them on display. Couldn't stand to see them go in the dumpster. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Re: X33 gets a brother. VINTAGE PICTURES FOUND!

Thanks, does it make any sense that a Chevy dealer sold it to me? This is the only time I bought any exhaust parts from a Dealer, the next set came from NAPA and they were not chrome.
