Without regard to what I could sell it for today and considering only one pick:

'69 Z/28, Rally Green, white stripes, hood, spoiler, no console, standard black interior, JL8, open headers!

I'm surprised that there have been no '70 Buick GSX, '70 455 Olds 442s and no MOPARs at all?

Back when I was a kid I loved my GTO, but man whenever I saw a '70 Challenger I'd drool all over myself...

Without reference to current market value and just cool/bad a$$ factor, from my perspective; 1969 Camaro L78 RS rag top with a M22 and 4.10 gears, X66D80, black with black top and a dlx red interior, Red D90 stripe, rosewood wheel, no console, no factory gages. Of course the car would have to come from Nickey Chevrolet and have a ZL1 counter engine dealer installed with the full Stage III & tri-power options thrown at it. A stinger hood(red stinger). Torque Thrust/Ansen style straight spokes, as well as a few other choice goodies from the Nickey catalogue, like frame connectors and traction devices.

This gets it done for me!

Ditto on the '69 Yenko Nova. Would need one sold out of Yenko though, with the typical Canonsburg upgrades; Atlas wheels, Doug Thorley headers, SW gauges, and a Hurst shifter. Any color would do - just hold the stripes https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: What's Your Dream Car?!!!

Cool choice Jeff....I'll bench race you w/ my dream choice McLaren M8! . Growing up the little town of Tyrone a few miles down the road from Mosport, I can't help but love the early Can-Am stuff! . The wing thing credit surely has to go to Jim Hall's cars....especially cool was the flipper wing cars! . I'm no Chappy expert but I think '66 was the only year for the flipper wing cars which gave the driver one more pedal to worry about controlling the on/off wing angle! .
As kids on bikes, my pals and I would always end up at Mosport w/ my best recollection being Gilles Villeneuve's practise laps in his Skiroule and Direct Film Atlantic cars. . The world may think Gilles best drive was the famous wheel to wheel battle w/ Rene Arnoux but nothing compares to Gilles practising at Mosport with no one around the track but us kids to perform for. . In typical Gilles fashion he'd power slide through turn 5 in perfect control and in the middle of it all we'd watch carefully as sometimes his hand would poke out in a litle wave to us as he'd slide by. . May sound goofy but seriously boys, it makes me friggin weepy thinking about it all again. ~ Pete

Re: What's Your Dream Car?!!!

I talked to Hall and Phil Hill about the 2E and 2F cars while they were over here at Goodwood. Incidentally, both were used in 67 - the 2E in Can Am, the 2F in FIA Sports Car racing in Europe.

Hall also pioneered the use of an automatic transmission in a race car and left foot braking which all the guys now do with the F1 style computer gear boxes or sequential crash boxes common in sports car racing. Since he no longer needed a clutch pedal he was able to put the wing control pedal in its place. Hill told me it was actually fairly easy to drive once you got used to it because the pedal only really had two positions - on and off. If you were accelerating you put your right foot all the way down on the gas and your left foot all the way down on wing to trim it out. When it came time to brake, you took your left foot off the wing and used it on the brake so that you increased the downforce and could still modulate the throttle if need be. Very simple cool stuff - a hallmark of Hall!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: What's Your Dream Car?!!!

Way cool you've been face on w/ both Hill & Hall! . I've been lucky over the years to meet many drivers including Phil Hill but never the inovative Texan. . It sounds like an interesting drive operating the wing-flapper cars and your description makes perfect sense w/ left foot braking and the automatics. . I expect they were running the M40 trans? .
Mosport used to be the greatest. . As a kid I used wake up on weekend mornings to the sounds of the cars running the early practise. . If it was a major event and the cars were loud enough, I'd lay there listening and try to figure where on the track the car was. . After a few guesses it would match....kind've like a puzzle piece fits.
I have a pic here I scanned off the '71 CASC Rule book cover showing the front straight at the Mosport '70 Can-Am event? . Also a scan of a Mo' Carter ad from the inside of the rule book. . I've tried a few times before but can't seem to master the picture thing. . If anyone can do this for me, let me know and I'll email it. .
Sorry on the Gilles blubbering in my last post. . I still miss the guy and the world's just never been quite the same since he split. .
~ Pete
