Well when BJ said they had 6000 consignment inquiries these people want to go somewhere and with BJ being no reserve i would imagine that makes alot of collectors nervous and im sure they don't feel like having the idea of possably having to buy their own car back at 16% appealing.

Neat, neat, sleeper Knuckledragger https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif : 64 Biscayne 409/425 4 speed with 900 miles on the clock. Sleeper color, sleeper dog dish, just cool https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif Bench seat was pristine fabric.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...2/DSC03875.jpg

Car was bid to 65K and NS. For sale sign later said 120K (i think).

67 Shelby GT500 Red 4spd was NR and sold at $160k. Nice car - seemed fair deal.

Re: Russo and Steele

'70 W30 ragtop was NR and bid to $135K but I believe this was bot back by owner as well. Car was decent but had a few issues: Sat too high, door alignment, painted gas tank, pin striping anomalyies (minor). Thorntons verified validity of car with a letter in window. Only other doc was a POP-but for Olds that does not speak to drivetrain. Can't beat that color combo!

Quite a few nice Mopars at this event including this Hemi 500 in BLACK! This was a NR and bid to $177.5K - don't know who bot it. Sharp-sharp car.

Re: Russo and Steele

Bill W. had quite a prescence there with some awesome Mopar rides. Here is his Daytona 440 Magnum that was used in original commercials back in the day.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...2/DSC03878.jpg

Top bid on this NR was $155K.

Seemed to me that there was more Ford $ than GM or Mopar at R&S this year.

Another notable result:

'69 RAIV Red with White 'vert top GTO with auto: NR, $162K

Re: Russo and Steele

The Yenko Vega is an interesting piece, but if I'm reading the info correctly, its been modified pretty heavily. Though much more fun like this, for the "purist", doesn't this car need to have a modified 4 banger reinstalled? Wouldn't a price penalty be paid for someone dropping an LS6 into their Yenko Deuce to make it more fun? Plus, even with all of the good Yenko PR and lore that's been spread for the last 5 years, do you think even 5% of the people in that tent even knew Yenko made special Vegas? Price seems very OK to me.....just my $0.02, which, when adjusted for mania, is worth even less in Scottsdale in January https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

Do I read that correctly, the Arlen Vanke Hemi Barracuda sold for $2,000,000? I can't find any other info to verify this. If it really sold for $2million, why isn't there more buzz about that? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

mockingbird812 01-24-2006 11:29 PM

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

"Sold" is a relative term. It ain't over till the money and title have exchanged hands. However, I was in the gallery (took the photos) when the auction for the Vanke car was "sold" to the high bidder at $2mil. Not sure why there is no big press on this car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif R & S are slow (compared to BJ) to post their results. Only me and 500 of my closest friends were privy to this info.

So what did the Lyle Mader Carolina Blue JL8 ordered crossram car sell for?

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

And if anyone knows the final bid on the orange 70 Chevelle LS6, please share it as well. No results yet on the R&S site. Thanks...

mockingbird812 01-25-2006 01:24 AM

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

Did not get the final bid on the Carolina Blue Z, but as I recall the Monaco Orange LS6 was bid to $120 or so. Sign on car in corral was "reserve was $135K or $140" as I recall. I believe owner shld have taken this.

Canuck 01-25-2006 03:26 AM

Re: Russo and Steele

The 7o 442 W-30 sold for $135K plus buyers fee and went to a new home. Seller did not buy it back.

TXSS 01-25-2006 05:49 AM

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

My recollection was that the high bid on the Carolina Blue Z was 100K with a reserve of 175K. The H-O LS6 had a high bid of 120K with a reduced reserve on Sunday of 128K. Both went through again on Sunday. Had to catch my flight so I don't know the finial out come.

I still don't see any attraction in that blue Z..

mockingbird812 01-25-2006 06:33 AM

Re: Russo and Steele/Vanke's Hemi Barracuda

Did nothing for me in person. I was intrigued when I saw the pix on the R & S web site. The NC blue LS6 from last year, althought not a perfect resto looked better than this. Love the history and docs, but sometimes that is not enough. Not my cup of tea either.
