Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
Yes - It's back.
Wow - That was a lot of money for a used car in 1970! |
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
$4,800.00 Canadian.....what was the exchange rate then ?
|
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
7.5%. If I did my match correctly that would mean $4400 US.

Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
ihere's some photos of my Z-28 which was purchased new from the Mussalem Garage, i found it in 1984, did a rotisserie rest on it in 1988, added options such as OEM tinted windows, rosewood wheel and 4:10s from my first Z, used JL-8 system with service package housing and 22 plate posi, GM crossram with '140 cam and real steel crossram hood (1 of 6 or so i'm told) partial exterior chrome trim and endura bumper.
i also added day two items such as MSD ignitionperiod tach and auto-meter gauges, headers, hi-perf clutch and lakewood bell housing, bistein shocks and quickor swaybar with radials give it modern handling. i have all the original pieces such as exhaust manifolds, in storage. i also found a COPO that came from Dick Irwin chev-olds in North Vancouver, just finished the resto on that last year. it is a rally green, m22, 8 track, rear de fog car. i have added the options tinted windows, rally wheels , 13'16 sway bar and radials on rally, endura bumper and rosewood wheel. its also day two modified with ceramic headers, MSD ignition, period tach & auto-meter gauges, hi -perf. clutch and lakewood bell housing , i still have all the stock parts to return it to stock including the XT wheels tried to get docs and photos posted on here but couldn't |
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )

Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
trying to get photo bucket to work, bit of a learning curve, forgot to mention a couple of options added to the COPO, a chambered exhaust system i bought NOS over the counter from Dick Irwin before. i also installed a mint untouched set of aluminum "842 heads dated early 69, the motor made 490hp on the dyno with the crane version of the stock 375hp cam.
i'm trying to upload photos but this site is not for photos, blog only i guess because its handicapped by very limited file size, maybe one photo at a time? |
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
When did you buy the exhaust at Dick Irwins? I worked there in 76 to 79.
|
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
i bought it in 1977 from ernie i think ,in parts dept. at Dick irwin, put it on my first Z with headers and the noisy "140 off road cam and got 3 excessive noise tickets in 6 months so they got shelved and i put a transverse system back on it, then went to a set of real GM corvair turbos put on by Midas across the street, best sounding mufflers ever made imho
still can't upload photos from my mac apple type computer, this website looks unchanged from 1999 when i first came upon it, i will post them on my own company website as i can put unlimited numbers of photos on it, I will put the GM canada docs as well, probably tomorrow I also have a 428CJ Cougar Eliminator that sold new down the street from Irwins at Ritchie Lincoln Mercury, c/w Marti report and am currently restoring a 1967 GTX Hemi that has Grovier docs, it sold new in Seattle. my website is www.starlitecrane.com |
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )
I was driving this at that time. Bought it used at Dick Irwins.

Does anyone know if that car survived as it was or where it may have ended up? Either of the Camaro's for that matter. |
Re: Musselum Motors ( Haney Garage )

Offloading pics from my system trying to land them in their rightful places. There's other pics here of Buck Kinney's '69 but anyone w/ more of his '67 car? No luck running old plate #'s in BC anymore? :beers: ~ Pete . |

Heres a few more pics of Buck Kinney's cars + a blurb from his NHRA Hall Of Fame induction. Note there's at least 3 different white cars w/ '67 Coupe as above also '68 Coupe and '68 Ragtop as pics below. Mussallem Motors closed in 2006 and building destroyed by fire in 2017 then demolished in 2018. ~ Pete :beers: . |

Poor pics but here's a couple more of Buck Kinney's '68 'Vert also '69 Coupe. Very Motion like stripe and tail paint on the '68 'Vert also looking closer at pics above + preceding page, both the '68 Coupe and '68 'Vert appear to have this same stripe style. :beers: ~ Pete . |
Great pics and information !

Here's a few articles/pics w/ Buck's '72 Chevelle 'Vert, '71 grille/lamps in some shots to meet year rules also earlier pics w/ Mussallem on the 1/4's. Interesting history on the '72 'Vert before Buck, purchased new by New Jersey's John Hoffman who earlier built the Ray Allen '70 'Vert, both cars w/ BBC power by Truppi-Kling! Sold at BJ in 07&13 maybe more times also this page still alive w/ more pics of the car + Buck's NHRA certificates etc... http://www.finecars.cc/en/detail/car/43119/index.html Cool stuff and Buck Kinney was sure one serious racer! Especially being the only Canadian NHRA Hall of Fame Member, gotta wonder what other of his cars are known today?:hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete . |
