Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
Did anybody notice the VIN stamping on the block? Did Chevrolet stamp them like that? I always thought they were put in the gang holder and stamped in a straight line. Just curious.
|
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
Ten days after L79 wagon question was asked, one appears on Ebay. I wonder if MSP has any info on this car, he only asked one question and no further replies.... Marketing technique or interested buyer? m

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
This is not my car, I don't know who owns it or where it is, nor am I a bidder on it.
That vin stamp looks..... different, may have missed a digit as well. The top two bidders have zero feedback, which sometimes indicates a shill situation. |
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
That vin stamping is 100% correct. The '66 Willow Grn L-79 Nova I found that was sitting since 1970 had the exact same vin stamping. It S around towards the front of the pad in the same exact way, same location. There is a '66 wagon L-79 in Orange County.
|
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
The vin isn't preceded by a '1' for the division? I'm going on later sequence procedures, but thought that that '1' meant Chevrolet.
|
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
If they did, here is one example where they didn't.
I believe this wagon is the real deal. |
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
Have seen some 67's without the "1" as well.
|
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
Wow, I didn't realize they stamped them like that from the factory. But then I don't follow much outside of the Camaros. Still a cool car with that engine in a wagon.

[/ QUOTE ] I certainly do not dispute what you've found, but when one considers the mechanics of that stamping process, it's hard to imagine on a production line. Eight different number or letter stamps picked up one at a time and eight hits with the hammer?? Definitely makes for overkilling a simple job when the gang stamp is so much more efficient https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
I'm no L79 guru, but it sure looks strange! Are all of the L79 blocks, and/or Nova blocks, stamped like that?

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
MARLIN THAT NOVA WAGON IS IN THE SAME AREA AS YOUR GARAGE HE ALSO IS SELLING MOPAR CARS

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME WITH ANY INFORMATION ON L-79 WAGON EXHAUST? WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU COULD OFFER.

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
As DueceMark has started and we have had a couple threads on this in the last couple of months (see through this link)
http://stevesnovasite.com/forums/sho...427#post200427 ...I for one would contest it !! Not to start an argument or problem, but to try and put an axe in it. Weather to stir the pot or help resolve the question, "Did they make a 2nd Gen L79 Wagon"? As Mark brought up, the exhaust is where I see the problem and would contest that fact that I don't believe they made any L79 Wagon's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif -Brent Thomas Ohio |
Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
Brent,
That's not just some schmuck who worked at Willow Run. JohnZ worked in the biz for 30+ years, retiring as a plant manager. He's not just relying on memory, he kept notes too. Very few people's memory I believe, but I believe John's. See http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml. |

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
The engine pad stamping on the Ebay L-79 wagon is dead on correct. The rear end to the Wagon looks to have been there forever, like the traction bars.Try and find a correctly dated 3:31 12 bolt posi(standard for a L-79)and make it look like the rest of the underneath of that wagon.
I guess the unrestored L-79 wagon in Orange, Ca. is also a fake. |

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
John - Thanks again for login on and chatting with us. Please stick around and chat with us to resolve some burning issues that revolve around this question of,"Did they make a L79 Wagon". With someone who experienced it first hand, I think we all who care, are lined up and have many specific questions. Again, please do stick around and chat !!
Kurt - Please please don't put words in my mouth. I amd not calling anyone a "Schmuck", I as well as everyone who is "into cars" has heard stories from engines, to racing to oddities. Seriously, please don't try to create a problem or anything between someone who is very curious as to the L79 wagon thing (ME) and someone who is probably pretty close to an expert (John). -Brent Thomas Ohio |

Re: NOVA L79 WAGON????
HI Guys, I bought the L-79 wagon on E-BAY. I was compelled too, Even though the proper docs are not there. The chance of it being a collection of dated parts was a chance I had to take. My gamble paid off. I'm 100% sure of it ligitamacy, thanks to my good buddy John D'andre in N.J. He researched the history of the car and set up a meeting with them. I believe with there highly credible testimonals, the need for POP and build sheet will not cast any doubts of it being the real deal. I have traveled over 1500mi and spent a great deal of effort to authenicate the wagon. I met with George Reppallayia, He worked at the Bond Brook N.J. chevy dealership when the car rolled off the truck and later rode around in it, I met wit Ted kijek, a factory sponsered AMX,HEMI CUDA, Z-11 CAMARO drag racer, he was the fourth owner. He drove the car to national events as personal car,at the 79 Spring Nats in Elizabeth N.J.where Bill Jenjins offered to buy this car, I met with Bill Jenkins and confirmed this to be true, He verified the car AS a true L-79. I met with John Hoffman, who was Grumpy's machinist, he told Bill about the Wagon and also knew Ted Kijek when they drag raced together around the Atco Dragway in Jersy. These guys all live within 20mi of each other and all have signed an affirmation stating the car is correct. For more info go to MSRESTOREIT.COM Thanks mark And buy chance John was able to put us all together for a pow wow.

Nova L79 wagon
Hey guys, I think I have one! I’ve been looking for a clean wagon and I picked this up last week. It’s a blue 67’ with a Muncie and an L79. I’ve been guessing perhaps there was an engine swap in its past, but the numbers are pointing to it being legit? Not sure how to post photos…

L79 67’ Wagon
I was looking for a clean wagon for an LS swap when I came across this one. I brought it home and begin discovering how rare it is? 362 engine code, 4-speed, date codes etc..
Now, it’s a “don’t touch or change anything” project, which is okay. If it’s a real L79 car I’ll preserve it, I just want help knowing… |
