I hope you have qualified help there while installing the ladder bars. Other wise I am going to stand back, I mean WAY back, the first time you launch that beast. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

You know, if it will not pull the front end, I hear in the old days they used a jack under the car for photo shoots. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Hey man, that's just the way it is. The car was badass and still is badass. Thanks to guys like you helping the Harrell name get its due. We have been lucky enough to have had 4 Harrell cars pass through our shop and every one is unique. Having the real cars and trying your best to preserve that history is fantastic. It's wonderful to share the DH cars with people. If you don't get that, I cannot help you. Your lost to the hobby...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Brian, would be neat to get those cars, plus a couple owned by members here, together for a photo shoot and maybe even a little racing. Talk about sharing history..

Maybe at a Supercar Reunion..?

Here is a vintage pic of the Jim Little car that Kim has now. It looks to be more red in the picture than the purple shade it is painted now.
And FYI Brian, The Dick Harrell name needs no one's help to get it's due. The name DICK HARRELL is greatly respected both then and now. The accomplishments that Dick had in his short life more than speak for themselves, and Dick's legacy will outlive all those on these boards.
It is good that you are helping to preserve the cars though.

A jack for photo shoots? Is that the same as pushing the car around for photo shoots as well? It seems there are no jacks anywhere in the pic here, unless the starter has one in his pockets!!!

Bill, The jack stand is a inside joke that Tom and I have about pictures of cars years ago. Bill Where did get that last picture of my car. I would love to buy it, if you have it. Kim https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Harrell Camaro pic

Bill, nice picture, but that is when is was being ran by Jim Little, not Fred Gibb. In conversations with Kim, who has done a TON of research on the car, including removing old paint layer by later, there is a good possiblilty that the car was repainted after Fred bought the car, done to remove Jim Little from the rear quarters and Stott from the front fenders. Regardless of color, a part of racing history and a BAD ASS car.

The goal of the sYc is to preserve and promote the supercars, which includes the builders and tuners of those cars. Dick did accomplish a lot in his brief career, but until a few years ago, had kind of been forgotten. But because of such folks as Brian and Kim, the sYc has been able to help get Dick get the recoginition he deserves. This effort was jump started when the special guests at SCR3 were Valerie Harrell and her son Michael.

As per the jack stands remark, you needed to have been at the banquet during SCR6 to fully understand that, as Kim and Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen had a interesting discussion about this.

Re: Harrell Camaro pic

Bill you should re-read BKH's post....bringing back cars is pretty damn respectable if you ask me.Especially significant race cars. If the color is not exactly the way you think it should be...thats your issue. No need to dis the car. The whole jackstand issue sounds kind of like the whole Mr Helen thing from a while back. You had to be there to get it I guess.

Re: Harrell Camaro pic

Kim I also saw the car at SCR7 and I thought it was cool! Really can't wait to hear it run. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Just out of curiosity why is the car more of a purple than red? Was that the original color of the car?

Does anyone know where Stott Chevrolet is?
There is a Stott dealership in Tryon NC is a Ford dealer now was a Chevrolet dealer in the Early 70's My brother's 73 Z-28 was bought new there.
Howie emailed me and said that his car was originally sent to a Chevrolet dealer in Greenville SC. and I was wondering if maybe it was transferred to the dealership in Tryon(30 miles away)

Re: Harrell Camaro pic

Frank I will try to explained how this color was used. I found four areas on this car with this color. The trunk lid under the spoiler both bottoms of the rocker and the the area between the trunk lid and rear glass atth. photo of trunk lid. I masked this off, and this paint is still on the trunk lid today.

Frank these two pictures were taken the day after the SCR. As I have said before I didn't have any outside pictures of my car. Please note the orginial paint and the new paint very close IMO. There is where I came up with the color. This what I went with. I also talked to Herb Fox about the color and he said the car was very close. What can I say https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

That dealership is only about 30 minutes from me. If they have anything that you needed pictures of or anything period I'd be happy to go up there for you. It would be worth the trip just to talk about drag racing.

I take it that means the stuff is gone now? If you can find out who it was sold to I can ask around, between my father, myself and some friends we probably know just about anyone around here who would buy Camaro parts.

Would be neat to see a large collection of the Harrell cars. I know Dave Libby must have had a flashback to the late 60's when he saw Swezey's 69 Camaro, Tom's 68 F/C and both the 70 Harrell Camaros displayed by Kim and LV. I know I talked with Libby for a few hours about the 68 Harrell Chevelle that LV brought to the show and learned sime neat stuff about it. Cant wait to see next years turn out. can only get bigger and better. Would be hard to beat anywhere else thats for sure!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Kim,
Yes it is a F*%d dealer now, I couldn't believe it either.
But obviously the same owners err (traitors)
