OH HECK YEAH Sweet mother Mary I want RAV with THOSE Glasco manifolds!!!!
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

It appears to me because of this pic, there is no way those Hot Rod manifolds will fit A body. Anyone second that.

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

Tom

The manifolds with the heat shields, ok on for the 303 but why the heat shields? Do you suspect they had serious plans of 303 production engine? Wouldn't have been much point in developing heat risers for racing?

Here is what Gary sent:

[ QUOTE ]
Here are a few pics of my unrestored "useless" 69 RA5 TA. Sorry the manifold pics don’t turn out very good, but not much room to get the angle on the camera. It might look better if I jacked the car up and took them from underneath it.

You guys are right,no way hot rod manifolds fit gto.I dont know which ones Mullikan had on that Judge,i remember he said he moved the motor over to one side half an inch, and he might have notched the frame .

Steve_Hoog 12-09-2004 03:44 PM

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

John

Mullikan's is the GTO that Gene Ingle first owned from our dealership, but is it the one Purely PMD restored with the shift lighted hood tach? I think I've figured this out before but forgotten. This Judge that Purely PMD did aslo had the correct A body manifolds, as Pete McCarthy used it for picture illustration in his book.

Sincerely,

Steve

the 303 engines were setup with a smog pump, they were REALLY trying to get the 25 engines by SCCA.Tom

Steve_Hoog 12-09-2004 05:42 PM

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

Tom I can see that, sounds logical.

I just got off the phone with Ramair Restoration, they scan the donor manifold digitally now so there is no harm to the original what so ever. He said normal tooling starting type price is $12,000 but that is for several thousand casting type molds. Since RAV would be only a few dozen at best, the mold material may be less expensive. Again this is just rough guesstimate on Paul's part, but he will do it. He also said he has a set of the 303 manifolds and acted surprised when I told him what they where. HAHA Everyone should read Yenko forum, then they would be up on this stuff.

Speaking of the Ram Air Restorations manifolds, has anyone ever seen (or tried) the 3" round port RAIV versions for the 67-69 Firebird? If so, do they actually fit?

Ok but I don't smoke cubans.

I suppose to normal people like myself, "a few feet away" would be like taking something from one side of the double wide to the other. But when you work at a parts plant that is over a mile long, maybe 300 yards is "a few feet away".

Since your talking about RAV stuff, did anyone hear buy that RAV piston that had "RAV" and describing text silk screened on the top of it on ebay about Oh... 4-5 years ago? I don't have the picture anymore. It looked to be a desk-top item, but not sure if someone made it up or not. I was wondering if there was a story behind it.

That's a cool overhead you can see it was about 2 blocks away from the assembly line.

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

The place must have been mind blowing to see, imagine car bodies on the third floor taking up over 2 football fields. WOW. To get around in all the buildings must have been difficult; I can see why a straight 2 block shot out in the open may seem like right out the door. It looks like they may have staged the transport trucks right outside #49 and there was a 2 block type road straight to the engineering building. That’s just a guess. These were samples from a fax; I will have hard copies and a more complete layout in the mail within the next days which will be cool. And there may be some more detailed accounting of how it ran.

Correction: The Black Judge now blue is based out of Kansas City.

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

RAV Exhaust Manifold Tally Sheet, who has a set.

303 F type:
1. Tom
2. Gary
3. Lance
4. Ramair Restorations

400 F long branch:
1. For sure but don't know who has them (photographed in 69 Hot Rod and Pete's book)

A body:
1. Glasgo's old set
2. Mulikin
3. "maybe" Purely PMD car if it's not Mulikin's

Probably more out there, wouldn't be surprised that George Delorean would have some and several other people in the Michigan area.

Re: RAIV and RAV more continuation....

I would be willing to bet that most of these un accounted for peices are in the Michigan area, last year when I was calling people ALL kinds of confusions were coming out about who took what out the back door. If I took notes, I don't remember what I did with them. I think Yash had the line on some of it. Tracking the peices down wasn't my mission, so I didn't take as much care with the information as I should have.

Dang it!!!

Here's the original 69 GTO RAIV prototype air cleaner. A little overkill, huh? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
