Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Any good color Non original motor Yenko Camaro's in the Jeff H price range please call me ASAP.
Copo Camaro have already sold for 185K and I have sold Yenko Camaro's in the 200's already. I had some clients very close to buying the Rallye green but didnt get the response back from them in time, or it would have been sold by now !! Like to see if it sells with private bidding( people like to see real bidding and not feel **$^&#) Anybody selling ZL1's in the 300's again call me and it will get done for a good car. Some well know guys say they can get a GOOD(done) ZL1 for UNDER 400 and I have yet seen one produced. Funny thing is the prices will be going up after BJ's and we will be laughing at these prices https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Jeff, no one questioned your asking price/ best offer over 25K for the following ad you placed:
"Let me first say I'm not completely sure I want to sell these parts, but at this point it looks like the resto will take too long to finish due to financial situation. I will only sell the parts as a complete package. Here's what I have that I was planning on putting on my 69 Z28 JL8 car: - GM crossram with fresh restored(by Holley) Holley 4295 carbs dated 69(I'll get the dates tonight but I think they're 981), wide base reproduction air cleaner, fuel lines, linkage, brackets, etc(missing throttle cable) - original GM fiberglass crossram hood(it needed some repair and it might be repaired, I have to check with the shop) - TI conversion setup(this is all the TI stuff where you use your original distributor, I don't have the 263 dist) - original GM radio delete plate in mint condition - original GM heater delete plates(includes 69 dash plate) - custom made Stahl headers that look like original GM headers - 4 new Minilite wheels which are hardened aluminum, not magnesium and have steel lug inserts, lugs and caps included - 140 off road cam kit(looks like it's made by Crane, not NOS GM) - 140 off road cam valve springs which are NOS GM - NOS GM timing set I'll try to get some pictures tonight of most of the parts. Taking offers over $25,000 so feel free to email, PM or call me with questions. Jeff (609)530-9681" I purchased a real JL8 Z for what your asking, and possibly you did as well (wow things have changed). The dynamic of the market is changing from month to month. Would you sell the above items below their market value ... obviously not and I would not question you on it. Why question the pricing of this Yenko... |

[/ QUOTE ] Steve, I'm not questioning the value of this particular Yenko, but I/we have not heard of a Yenko selling for anything in this price range. Now Rich P has just posted that he has sold a COPO for $185K and a Yenko for $200K so that helps to update all of us to what the market is doing. You guys said I was crazy when I referred to a Deuce selling for $100K range. I would bet you can't buy a restored Deuce for under $100K if COPOS and Yenko Camaros are selling for $185 and $200K. I'm not in the market for another car so I have no idea what the cars are really selling for. Rich, I (and I assume others) thank you for posting this updated information on the cars you have been dealing with. Personally, I'm still surprised how much all of these cars have jumped in price this year. Barrett Jackson should be a blast to watch next month! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Steve, Would that happen to be the Brown one that was listed on eBay about a year ago for just a few shorts days before ending early? |
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
No, that was not my car. BTW I have never ended an auction early... Just for clarification.
|
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
No Steve,
I was asking if that was the one you had recently purchased as the asking price for it was about 28K and then it ended within 24 hours of it being listed. I presume someone bought it privately. Thought that might have been the one you bought. |
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Im sure you all know theres a rally green 69 sYc on ebay now right.oops its the 1 from the beginning of this thread from worldwide musclecar.Buy it now for $225.000

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
It would be nice to see some documentation of cars selling at these prices. Some people in the hobby could over inflate actual selling prices, and then other buyers pay to much. But there are also the buyer who are willing to pay any price, even more than it's worth. To impress others for bragging rights. The market prices have jumped, from straight 6 cars,to super cars. Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Joe, you're right! I absolutely KNOW I've had Baker's name on the roll somewhere, and thought I listed it under Brian or Joe another year when Baker couldn't make it (or something like that)...but it's since vanished! If you can find out definitely it's years of attendance, I'll get it on there ASAP...

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Selling prices are really nobodies business...it's between the seller and the buyer whether they choose to make that info public
|
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Well, somebody thought that this Yenko was worth $186,702.09 which is still a pretty good price. Seems odd that the high bidders ID was kept private throughout the auction process.

Seems odd that the high bidders ID was kept private throughout the auction process. [/ QUOTE ] They are kept private so no one gets to be known as "the dummy who bid that Yenko up to 186K on eBay." You know that's what would happen if that information was made public. Even if someone laid down the 225K for that (gorgeous) Yenko, there'd be guys mumbling about how 225K is "too much for that car." It's just the way some people are. I think someone else on this forum called the critics "chair throwers." Bidders ID's are kept secret so that they don't get hit by a chair. If I had 225K in play money I'd be awfully tempted to jump on that RG Yenko. LOOKOUT!!! Man, that chair just missed knocking my head off! Just kidding around a bit fellas. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

Charley...do you have any NOS 4x4 springs that seems to be the rage on some of these restorations where the car is a foot higher than it's supposed to be ? The RG car was done RIGHT !!!

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Well, I'm hearing of more COPO cars selling for $170-$185K recently so I would assume the Yenkos will be selling for more than that. I'm still kind of shocked that the COPOs have jumped that much since last year. I remember that Brown RS COPO that couldn't sell for $105K late last year. I can't remember all the details on that car but I thought it was original motor and documented. I'm now surprised this Yenko did not get up to $200K since that appears to be the going range. Barrett Jackson is gonna be fun to watch! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
I have seen a lot of restorations, what I look for in a restoration are cars that represent what was done on the assembly line. I see a lot of restorers that deviate from the factory processes for the wow factor, and a cleaner look. Each car restoration should be unique based on the what is found during the disassembly process .To me this is the most critical phase, without this information the car loses its true identity. Yes it require much time and become a tedious documetation process. Although these car were built on the assembly line they were not all built the same. There were many variables that caused this, such as; build date, supply shortages, vendor changes, assembly plants, to name a few. It seems that some restorers take the easy way out and produce generic cookie cutter restorations. As the say the devil is in the details

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Well said Steve...I have seen some flashy but low scoring restorations this past year....one set of pics I saw was an 8 year old resto and the damn thing STILL sat up 6 feet in the air...maybe they used NOS Hi Jackers or something https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
Part#3955231 was used on all cowl inducted cars.Camaros-Chevelles till 1972.Tape was the object of choice back then, not glue like today.

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
I guess they don't put tape on re-pops then huh !!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
If you look at the pics of the 69 Yenko road test in the Super Stock article in the June 69 issue you can clearly see the tape seam, as well as bodycolor overspray on the top edge of the firewall (no taped edge)... even in a B&W photo shows this. The tape on the seal appears to be in the exact spot as on this Rally Green car. I would think photographs taken in 69 of a brand new car would be a good reference for the way a car should be properly restored if there were any doubts.
|
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
There is a difference between correct restorations....and "pretty" restorations...depends on what you want to do with the car...judged shows or hot dog stand.
|
Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
The cloth tape that was used can be replicated with a cloth tape that is available on the market today and it duplicates the originals exactly. Makes for a more complete restoration. "Details make the difference"

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green

I guess they don't put tape on re-pops then huh !!! [/ QUOTE ] I just bought a new repro air cleaner kit from Goodmark and the seal has the correct cloth tape on the seam like original. It is not a cheap copy but identical to the original. Nothing like the black ductape used on that Yenko that is for sale. I will try and get a picture of it in the next day or so and post it...............RatPack............... |

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
I know of someone who turned down around 250-275 for his Yenko Camaro and I had an offer of 250 and turned down.

Re: 69 Yenko Camaro Rallye Green
WHAT ALOT OF PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE, IS THAT THIS CAR WAS RESTORED NINE YEARS AGO... IT HAS GONE THRU A FEW OWNERS SINCE IT WAS DONE, AND PROBABLY NOT HAD THE CARE THAT IT SHOULD HAVE. IT IS REALLY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN THE NATURAL FINISHES ON METAL PARTS. (I GUESS THEY COULD HAVE USED OVER THE COUNTER METRIC BOLTS, AND HELP PACK FASTENERS LIKE I HAVE SEEN ON OTHER SO CALLED HIGH END RESTORATIONS) IT IS STILL FAR AHEAD OF WHAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE DOING TODAY.... CRY ABOUT A PIECE OF CLOTH TAPE ON THE COWL INDUCTION SEAL, PEOPLE STILL DON'T KNOW THAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THERE EVEN NOW. AND AGAIN THAT WAS NINE YEARS AGO. NOW THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN, GOODMARK SELLS ONE WITH TAPE, IT'S NOW CORRECT, AND WE'LL ACCEPT IT, BUT ITS THE WRONG TAPE. AGAIN NINE YEARS AGO!!! THE GUYS THAT DID THIS CAR ARE SECOND TO NONE, AND ARE IN IT FOR THE LOVE OF THE CARS AND THE HOBBY, NOT JUST TO LINE THEIR POCKETS, UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE. THE CAR IS A GREAT CAR, AND WHO WOULDN'T WANT IT IN THEIR GARAGE. I KNOW THAT I WOULDN'T MIND HAVING IT, EVEN THOUGH IT MIGHT NEED A LITTLE SPANKING UP.

I just found this in the "library." It's a copy of the January/February '99 issue of Camaro Enthusiast, a small United States Camaro Club publication. It's the happens to be the "Niagara Falls Convention Issue" featuring the RG Yenko in question. Attached is a pic of the cover.

The article reads, "The car first time out scored a Gold with 984 points in the Trailered Dealer Modified Class. If you could have taken home any Camaro at the Niagara Falls convention the most likely candidate would have been this outstanding Rally Green Yenko." No mention of the cowl seal.
