Anyone remember the Saturday Night Live 'commercial' for "Bungking?" Leslie Nielson was the guest host and did the Bungking commercial bit. It was hilarious.

For a 69 camaro with square collectors like Belairs. I told you I am not too old to learn. But I don't look at Jegs or Summit catalogs much at all. I will have to keep more abreast. Thanks!

Wow what a great topic this is! I am a HUGE day 2 fan myself and day 2ed the heck out of my Chevelle but for some reason I have held out on the Yenko. Day 2 is great because the car just looks, sounds, and probably drives better with the parts on it. It is also good for the guys that have a nice car that they don't want to hear all the nitpickers bash on.

Two of my day 2 rules are as follows. NO radials or modern batteries. Yep.........I have a battery topper but have BFG's on the car. I don't really like the M/T's or Pro Tracs. They were not very popular in my neck of the woods. I had Polyglas and Firestone L60-15s and other "store brands". I wish they still made L60 and E60 Polyglas tires.

I've collected some "Day 2" stuff for my '67 RS/SS/L35. Cal Custom valve covers (to be chromed), an Edelbrock C396 intake, two Cragar S/S 15x6 wheels. I think I'll get 7-inchers for the back. Then, Coker G70 redlines in back, E70s up front. Do they make H70 redlines??? If I put headers on I think I'd want to go with new coated Hookers but that would be my only concession to new parts--that are visible, that is.

The goal would be to have a car that looked like I stopped at the tire shop on the way home from the dealership in 1967 and swapped on the latest mags and red-stripe tires on my brand-new Camaro. Then, in an effort to wring more power out of the "Impala" 325-horse 396, I'd put the C396 on with a Holley. (Yes, a cam change is in order, as is a shift kit for the Th-400, but you can't see that stuff.) I hope nobody points out that my Cragar S/S's are new and not "NOS originals." Let's keep this fun and not nit-pick it to death, okay guys!

It seems I have been a Day 2 fan for a long time, I just didn't know it had been an identifiable trend. 'Trend' is used in a good way here. I'm all for it!

Here's my "Day 2" '67 Camaro back in 1983, on the left. It was in the mid stages of body/paint (Tahoe Turquoise). It had a nice 327 with solids, a '70 M-22 that I paid $180 for in 1980, and a 12-bolt 3:55 Posi.

My best bud's '67 SS 396 is at right. It began life as a L35/Th-400 car with a 2:79 Posi, but by the time this photo was taken it had a 4-bolt 396, rect. heads, and a T-10. Oh, and 3:55 gears replaced the 2:79's. Originally a Marina Blue/black vinyl top car.

I sold my Tahoe Turquoise car in 1985 but bought a stock 396/325 '67 in 1999. After seeing my buddy's '67 396 car I had wanted one ever since--I love the look of those Turbo Jet 396 flags on the '67 Camaro fender. My buddy put a crate LS-7 in his Marina Blue '67 in 1988 and he still has the car and drives it once in a while.

If I was going to go Day 2, I would see if its possible to get a set of headers coated in flat white... nothing says "old school" like white headers IMO!

guy in my hometown has a 66 fairlane 390 4 speed with hurst vertigate black/black,cragar big and littles redline tires front some scary looking cheater slicks on back, blue dots, holley 3 barrel, he bought the car new and drove on weekends until '76 when it was parked, low mile original car, he brings it out twice a year and waxes it every month ill see if anyone can get pics of it, a friend knows him and thats the only way i got a close look @ it. i know its a ford but a true day 2 car. the guy doesnt have too much other than the car but he seems to like it that way. not for sale ever kind of a deal, he doesnt even like people to know he has it.

In 1983, I turned 17 years old and purchased my first car. It was a "Day Two" 1972 Chevelle. It had a Cowl Induction Hood, a small block, M-22 and a 4:10 12 bolt rear. It sat up very high, because of big block springs up front and air shocks out back. Cragars all way around and N50's on the rear. It also had bright yellow Lakewood Ladder Bars, a finned aluminum rearend cover and Sun Blue Line Gauges. All the elements of a "Day Two" car!
During that time, my neighborhood had these types of cars everywhere. Especially, since we had speedshops like Motion Performance, Russ' Speedworld and S&K Speed nearby.

I always like the 1972 Chevelle Super Sport. In 1988, I restored the Chevelle that I still currently own. Even at that time, "Day Two" was still very popular. I couldn't help myself and I put Centerline Auto Drags on it with
