Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I had the pleasure of talking to this gentleman last night, and he may be even cooler than Joey described! I coulda listened to stories about that car for hours...and that car has some stories! We've got an sYc packet on it's way, and are trying to get him tuned in here! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
Incredible!
Was he able to get the Original A.I.R. system for it? Wouldn't it be nice to see this LB Yenko Camaro,& Bill Hunters' (Original owner) DY Yenko Camaro parked next to eachother at SCR7. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |
Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
Yes it would! But even more amazing than that, is that we're possibly gonna have 2 more *new* original owner COPO Camaros (1 is a Yenko!) as well! We've gotten a lot of calls/emails within the last week or so, and the next update to the SCR list is gonna be a BIG ONE... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I saw this cars 20 years ago. The car sat in a used car dealer's lot on Broadway st. in Des Moines later I saw it at the hawkeye Mecum auction I asked him then if the car was for sale? Same reply. NO https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I'm a day late or I could have posted that this car is now for sale (April Fools). It's not for sale but I did see this car today at an indoor car show here in Des Moines. A special treat indeed. Didn't get to meet the owner but do know his name. Car looks the same as the pictures shared earlier other than he has updated the tires to the original design. Had a nice display and some history on Yenko cars which was informative to me since I'm not as informed on these cars as many on this board. Hope to get to meet the owner someday and hear the stories.

It looks like there was only one LB Yenko Camaro sold in Iowa in 69 from Friedley Olds, Cedar Fall Vin# 124379N614579, it was a 4-speed car as well. Did you get the Vin number Joe???? Mark [/ QUOTE ] My brother in law knows the owner of the LB Freidley car. It is another original owner car and is in North Eastern Iowa, he doesn't get it out much from what I can tell. The guy used to run late models here and has some connection to the ZL1 motor that Anders got here in Iowa. I don't think the owner has a price that the car could be bought for. Really a car guy who loves his Yenko! Nice to see! |
Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I think this car has been to a few SCR's? Like last years, and raced?
|
Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
Racefan and ohhawk are talkin' about the same guy...not sure if Donny actually raced/owned a late model roundy-round car, but he at least follows them heavily, and makes an annual trip down here to this part of the world every Labor Day to a big race in Batesville...in fact, I think he told me at SCR7 that was first time in like 30-some years he'd NOT been to that race on Labor Day!

Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I thought he was talkin about the Crawford/Albert car?
|
Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
Who? Racefan or ohhawk?? My head hurts...!
|
Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
I don't know, both are very cool cars, and both raced at SCR7 - where else can you get confused about which blue yenko camaro from Iowa was racing at the drag strip, not to mention all the other yenko's and supercars flying down the 1320! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Super cool unrestored Yenko Camaro
Who's on first and what's his name is on second? I read this page of the thread 4 times and I'm still not sure I've figured it out. I can tell you the car I saw was owned by a gentleman located in Des Moines (not NE Iowa) according to his display. That I am sure of. I am less sure of my recollection of all the data I looked at on the car but I thought his display indicated it was also purchased at an Iowa dealership and the Cedar Falls location seems to ring a bell. The owner's initials are D.W.
