Skierkaj...I would look for a different Sociology Teacher. Or maybe you are mis-interpreting what the Teacher said.

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
As for the contacts, I agree, and have had a couple people on the site help me out . . . like Mark (396L35) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif. I almost had a deal for a really sweet ride that remains to be named.
As for Charley: Ummm, no. Just no. Is it any coincidence that as of Feb. 2004, The worlds 10% richest people control 80% of the "stuff"? I think not. Likewise, the worlds 10% poorest people control -15% of the "stuff". How can you control -15% of the stuff? Debt. I just saw the chart during class yesterday, and the worlds richest people have been gaining more and more possessions since forever. This will continue to happen until, like Marx said, there is a revolution; a redistribution of the wealth. And if you're not fimiliar with Marx, you should read up on him. Most people have the wrong perception of Marx; they think he's a "Marxist", when indeed, he is not. Marx knew full well of the repercussions of a socialist society, but believed it to be more equal than a capitalist one; which makes sense to me. In a perfectly socialist society, everyone is equal-- the wealth is distributed. He knew that this system would never work, because people's perceptions and greed would take over. He also believed that change in society is caused by social conflicts. If you want something changed, screw with the system until you get what you want. You have to create a revolution. Don't ask me to explain it any further. Just forget it. I don't wanna argue. Please don't reply to this anymore, it's just making me angry. I'll step down off the podium now. |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was for distribution of all wealth. She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican which she expressed openly. One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich & more welfare programs. In the middle of her heartfelt discussion based upon the lectures she had from her far left professors at her school, he stopped her and asked her point blank, how she was doing in school. She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. That she had to study all the time; never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying. That she was taking a more difficult curriculum. Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary." She replied, "Mary is barely getting by", she continued, "all she has is barely a 2.0 GPA" adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies." But to explain further she continued emotionally, "But Mary is so very popular on campus, college for her is a blast, she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over." Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to your friend who only had a 2.0." He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair equal distribution of GPA." The daughter visibly shocked by the father's suggestion angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I did without and Mary has done little or nothing, she played while I worked real hard!" The father slowly smiled and said..."Welcome to the Republican Party..." |

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
Numbers don't mean anything. Most people in this country are too lazy to work for a living. They'd rather collect uneployment than find a job paying $7/hr. I'm not one of the rich and famous, and my dad was a mechanic and my mom was a nurse so we weren't living high on the hog. But I went through college and found a job starting at a minimum salary and I'm still with that company 15 years later and I have saved and I'm slowly having a crossram, JL8 car restored. It will be a $100K car when done, but I would never have been able to buy a $100K car. You have to start low and work your way up. And don't listen to any professors, they don't live in the real working world. They're protected by the university that pays them big bucks to spew meaningless cr@p. You should be working part time while not in class, that's how you get ahead, not waiting for someone to hand you money for no reason.

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
This is all true, and interesting, but, back to the Nova!! Why is there a gap in the body numbers between #3 and #4? Is it significant?
|
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
[ QUOTE ]
Here is some cool info . . . the body build number on this Nova (car #4) is 96366 and the build number on Nova #3 is 96364. It is also wierd that a plate of any kind was put under the cowl tag as it is very hard to get to it since the power brake booster is in the way. Nova #3 was a Dick Harrell converted 427 car and it didn't have the plate there, in fact it had a black sticker similar in size stuck above the trim tag. Great to have another one in circulation again . . . [/ QUOTE ] Matt, do you think they removed the power brakes since it was going to be a drag car? If so, then it might have been a lot easier to get the DH tag under the trim tag. |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
Woah!!! Hold up a second, people need handouts in order to get ahead in this world . . .
If you start out with nothing, and I mean NOTHING, how can you gain anything? That is the reason welfare is there. People can only stay on welfare so long. It is impossible to get a job when you have no presentable clothes, when you have no shelter, etc. . . . And some people say, " Lets clean them up, get them some clothes, and teach them how to fill out a resume." This doesn't work. What good is the resume, when you have no money to get to work, feed yourself, etc? As for my teacher, he grew up on a private island in the Caribbean . . ., why is he here in WI? Either it's the only place he could find a job, or maybe 'cause he actually CARES about what he's teaching. Who the hell would move away from the Caribbean?! Regardless of what you think, over half of the professors here HATE the Dean, and I mean HATE! Like, they have daily arguments with him . . . just yesterday about parking tickets in the school parking lots. Don't stereotype professors, some of them are NORMAL people. Stop talking about this subject PLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSEE!!!!! Just this morning, I got an email telling me how this person was glad that I was standing up for the "little guys". A big thanks goes out to you https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif PLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEE STOP TALKING ON THIS WHOLE SUBJECT, Get back to the Nova, like most people want. |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
OK bring this one to the Lounge...lets hear more about the Nova..
|
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
I agree!!! Does anybody have any history on it? Was it one of the Harrell race cars? and last but not least....who bought the car? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
I had a carrier pigeon fly over my house and drop a note down my chimmney that suggested Ed C. from COPO Connection may have a new project. Anyone know if that pigeon was flying straight?
Motown https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
But I thought Ed C. just bought that 68 Yenko Camaro as a project a couple weeks back. Sounds like Ed might have a backlog of projects.

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
Matt, I think you will find the body # on # 3 is 96304 not # 96364 None of the cars are that consecutive. The car is not Fred's race car. Kim
|
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
That's what I thought Kim. Usually, the body numbers are sequential for COPO runs within color category, and do not follow the VIN sequence at all - not always, but usually.

Marlin some of the blue cars are sequenced. Which makes sense with the same color. Kim https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Hi Belaire.....
Please disregard that comment. I was just reading this thread and though it read like a cross between a PBS show and a episode of My Classic Car. This is a great website and I like all the discussions about Supercars. Very informative. I will think before I type next time. Thank you kindly- ktownkid |

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
Jeff,
These Novas had Power Drum Brakes. No need to remove those for weight reduction. Also, the other two 427 DH Novas had stickers on them, not riveted small plates. The location of the holes reminds me of a friends '68 Camaro that was stolen and recovered and the DMV riveted a small VIN plate under his cowl tag, since the original VIN plate was taken off the car. No telling really what was there. But my guess, not as DH plate. |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
Kim,
Jude Hettick's old Nova (I was told it was # 3) is definately 96364. I sent you an email with the photo of that cars cowl tag . . . I can't post them here due to the large size, you will have to zoom into that photo to see it. |
Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
IS IT??..I hope the car might be saved! 1 more for the club I guess https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif another car rescued! :worship

Re: Dick Harrell Nova???
I have now confirmed that this car is indeed one of the 50 COPO Chevy II's from the Fred Gibb dealership. I know this may just be duplicate information, but it is from the original source. I have no information that it was prepared by Dick Harrell, but as is known, that may be able to be determined in the future.

I'm kinda slow so it took me a minute to figure out what the heck you were talking about.....somebody should smack me upside the head with a shovel now and then.....I just figured out we are talking about burying a car! Motown https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |
