Re: Yenko leather jackets
" a designer suit jacket." What's that?

Re: Yenko leather jackets
Hey Mike...I can't make it to VetteFest, but how 'bout I send you one of these "sample" [assuming they show up by Wednesday] jackets so you could help hawk a few of them at that show. I've seen your cars, so I KNOW they're not too loud for your tastes. Actually, they're very cool!!
SS |
Re: Yenko leather jackets
Very funny Steve. You can send them here & I'll haul them down on Friday if you want. Just tell me who gets them.

Re: Yenko leather jackets
I knew that my yenko leather coat was RARE,but I didn't think it was that RARE.I have worn that coat about a dozen times, I guess I shouldn't wear it too offen."MOF"

Re: Yenko leather jackets
LV,
Can I still order a jacket? I need a large. Doesn't really get cold enough to wear one in GA, but would be neat to go w/the Yenko. Thanks |
Re: Yenko leather jackets
Mike
I think K.Hand has a Red Flyer Wagon you can use.. |
Re: Yenko leather jackets
Okay...Rob, put "COPO" down for a "L" jacket. I had mine on the passenger seat at a show, then had to put it away 'cause it was getting more attention than the car.

Got it. Better check my math: Jacket Orders

Re: Yenko leather jackets
Can you post the mailing address for payment? thanks
|
Re: Yenko leather jackets
I want to inspect the jackets and compare them to the original jacket before ANYONE sends payment. After satisfactory inspection of each jacket, Rob will post payment instructions and ask each buyer for shipping instructions. Just so everyone knows...payment will be mailed to sYc and payable to sYc. The inside pocket label states that the jackets were made exclusively for the sYc and your receipt will be from sYc...that's good for authentic memorabilia purpose.

Re: Yenko leather jackets
Okay boys and girls...the jackets have arrived, and they are awesome!! Rob Clary is the bookkeeper, so make the check payable to sYc and send payment [$695] to:
sYc PO Box 375 Alton, MO 65606 I gotta say, they turned out very, very nice! I ordered 8-10 extra jackets for you guys that procrastinate. First come, first served, on the few unsold jackets. I'll box and ground ship them from here, so PM or email me your shipping address: SS |

Re: Yenko leather jackets
These are EXACT remakes [red/black/white] of the "5" original Yenko jackets that were last produced in the late 80's by the same guy that made these. He was able to find 28 of the original collar labels [Red Dog], so he made these 28 "new" jackets to EXACTLY replicate the only 5 other jackets on the planet.

Re: Yenko leather jackets
Steve,
Please check your e-mail regarding the XL jacket you have left. |
Re: Yenko leather jackets
Will-do, John.
Okay guys, if you want to treat yourself to a neat holiday gift that'll arrive well before Christmas, we've got approximately 1-M, 2-L, 3-XL and 1-XXL that aren't presently spoken for. SS |
Re: Yenko leather jackets
Thank you Steve. I will be anxiously awaiting its arrival ! ! ! !

Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
I ordered 31 new commemorative "sYc-Yenko" leather jackets in various sizes a few weeks ago. Including the 5 "original" sYc jackets that were made nearly 20 years ago, this new run of 31 jackets will obviously account for 36 TOTAL on the planet. Accordingly, the collectibility should remain high, when compared to the number of sYc enthusiasts.
When I placed the order, some 6 weeks ago, I had to guess at the assortment of sizes. So far, we have been able to accommodate every size request for the 27 folks that have ordered a jacket. At the moment, we have only 4 jackets that are not spoken for: 2@"L" and 2@"XL". I won't put them on eBay because that would tend to make it appear as a commercial effort to replicate these special collectibles for profit. That is simply NOT THE SPIRIT of why we ordered a limited "second run". The remaining 4 jackets will be sold on a first come, first served basis...but will only be available thru the sYc. I shipped several jackets last Thursday via FedEx-GROUND, and I'll be sending out a few more today [for those that have given me their shipping address]. FedEx GROUND estimates 5-7 days for delivery, so some of you should expect to receive your jacket today/tomorrow. Thanks and enjoy! SS |
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Steve,
I just received my jacket today FedEx ! ! ! ! It is TOTALLY AWESOME ! ! ! ! ! I hated to part with the $695.00 for a jacket but I am really glad I did. Who knows what they might be worth on down the road with such a limited number being produced ! ! ! They are very well constructed and the stitching is superb ! ! Thanks again for hooking me up with one of these ! ! ! And a big thank you to Donna for packaging it up so well so it wouldn't get damaged in shipping ! ! ! I'm truly surprised you have any left yet to sell ! ! ! I'll bet you don't have these four remaining jackets very long though ! ! ! |
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Got mine today as well... In addition to the stunning appearance, quality workmanship, and supple leather, another thing i can attest to is that these are EXACTLY like the first 5 that were made back in the 80's, as I was one of the lucky few people to get one of those when they were released... I remember waiting almost a year from the time i ordered it until the time it arrived. (LV's turnaround time was much better!) The ONLY difference between these new ones and the original 5 is a super-cool embossed leather patch on the inside on the jacket stating that it is specially made for the Yenko Sportscar Club. A very nice finishing touch! Truly an awesome jacket Steve, you should be commended on your efforts to put this deal together for us! Thanks!!!

Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Now wait a minute Joe.........If you ordered a Yenko jacket in the 80's you would have been a kid back then so what is the real deal with your age??????

Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Frank,
The original jackets and this "new run" of jackets were made in India. The "proto" jacket was made by "Red Dog Leather Co" in about 1988, whereupon 5 additional jackets were ordered as promotional samples for the import company, wholesaler. The importer sold product in large volume [block-orders] to distribution companies, so they wanted samples. Problem was...the importer fell upon tough financial times and never paid for the original order. These jackets sat for 3-4 years pretty much ignored as just "an unpaid order gone bad". In about 1992/93 the manufacturers sales brochure included a picture/rendering of the sYc/Yenko jackets and the 5 original jackets were sold to a different distributor [and paid for]. For some reason, it took several months for the jackets to arrive from India [the manufacturing plant ownership had changed hands], and the people that had ordered them just had to wait. Now, as for Joey's real age...only his Momma knows for sure . SS |
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Your right LV, now that i think about it, it was 1993 or 94, not "the 80's"...Although I still woulda cashed in my comic books and took a second paper route to buy one of these back then just the same!

Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
I bought my orig. leather jacket from Larry Weiner in around the early 90's.He was selling the shirts and hats.He was also selling stuff for Grand Spaulding Dodge. What would my jacket be considered? They were SOLD OUT at the time,so he says and had to locate me a jacket.

Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
It's probably nuttin'...wanna sell it?
If it has the "Red Dawg" collar label, then it must be one of the original 5-6 jackets. The importer that originally ordered these jackets apparently had pre-sold a large number of jackets to various GM specialty/promotional distributors. When the importer suddenly disappeared [suffering financial problems], there were a number of "unfilled" orders that the distributors had to cancel [so goes the story]. There were apparently several batches of jackets sold to various GM dealers, but the importer never shipped the orders to the distributors. BTW...Red Dawg Leather Co. is most famous for the Red-White-Blue "Corvette" leather jacket. I'm told they produced over 10,000 of those jackets [I got one from the dealer I bought my '91 ZR1 from]. That Corvette jacket order is actually what kept the factory so busy that they never resolved the backorders for these "sYc-Yenko" jackets. Red Dawg was definitely the "horsepower" in leather jackets...you'll notice 2-3 "Camaro" and "Corvette" vintage jackets on eBay right now. My guess is you have one of the originals. You and I apparently own 2 of the 5-6 made back in the late 80's. SS |
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Steve,
I got my jacket, super nice item, thanks to all who were involved. First leather I ever owned that wasnt black with patches on the back, might take a bit of getting used to. if I wear ir riding my Harley it will be easier to be seen at night. I got a question that will get you guys grinning, a Yenko car must have solid documentation to be recognized as being the real deal, so where are the Doc's on our jackets? I would hate to see anyone fake or clone one, considering the cost/value that is not out of the question. Possibly we can get a letter of authenticity? Really not a bad idea considering how nice these are and they are not available, it is concievable someone could do a cheap knock off copy, stranger things have happened in this world. Now I gotta go out and get a custom pair of color co-ordinated western boots made to match......I swear you guys will make a yuppie out of me yet! But really, I was surprised at the quality of this jacket, these could almost rival a Brooks. Thanks to all involved. Motown |
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Yenko Jacket Certification can be done for a small price of a nice 20/OZ prime rib dinner and air fare
