Re: Site with some good parts

69Z, i got the same reply about payment. I have not ever made a check out to two people when buying parts. Maybe part of the scam, the other guy is who he sends the money too. Then it is gone! The water is getting very cold, and i am not going to jump in. I can find parts elsewhere. Roger

I e-mailed about some parts from them and told them I would be in that area tonight.I just live across the state line in Kentucky. That was Sunday night.Still have not heard from them.I guess I was to close for them.

Proceed with caution!

Hello, I'm new here visiting from Team Camaro. This kind of stuff really gets to me and prompted me to register. Check the copy and paste of my response on the TC thread regarding this guy:

I did a reverse phone number lookup at www.anywho.com and that ph # is listed to a K McDonald at 126 E Main St in Abingdon VA-he didn't even spell the name of the town correctly!!

And the www.usps.com web site says the addresses he gives in the TC ad and for payment on the yenko thread do not exist, hmmmm....

The Team Camaro ad now appears to be deleted, but it listed a contact phone number and address other than the one listed above for payment FWIW.

Zedder 10-23-2003 02:42 AM

Re: Proceed with caution!

Brett, The ad is still on Team Camaro.

JChlupsa 10-23-2003 05:02 AM

Re: Proceed with caution!

AL (Team Camaro/Team Chevelle site owner) is doing some background type things on the seller and has given him a deadline to answer some questions that not only those here have asked but members of his board have asked also. When the ads disappear from both Team Camaro and Team Chevelle sites you will know that the seller failed to provide the info Al requested.

I think it's safe to say this guy's cover is blown. Anyone who sends him money is just looking to give it away. I did a request abt. his 69 quarters, he promptly sent me pictures, and total amount incl. shipping to a friend of mine in US.

But it stinks, so i®ll leave it to him to try and fool someone else.

Re: Site with some good parts

Some one that lives close should go knock on the door of the address he lists to receive payments at and see if it is real or a mail drop at someplace like Mailbox's INC. or something. Someone should get the US mail involved in this as it is mail fraud. Some how somewhere this guy has to receive the money by mail or his scam will not work. I only wish he was close to me as I would love to do the legwork on this one.

Guys,
I live in Salt Lake City!
I did a little checking, and the address that's listed in SLC that the domian is registered to is questionable at best.
Registrant:
Parts Surplus
363 S. 5th
Salt Lake City, Utah 84103
United States

Most addresses in SLC are either N. S. E. W.
For example 363s. 500w.
There is a 5th ave., and it's even in the correct zip code, but it's listed as J. Lynn Tanner. 801-364-2140
The correct address is:
363 5th ave. not 363s 5th
ALso, I found nothing on Parts Surplus...
I'm not a very big guy...a wopping 145lbs, but Maybe Motown would like to come for a visit??

I emailed him this morning. Told him I had not got a response from him. Asked him if he was for real. Told him lots of guys think not. He emailed me back and said he was confused by my email.Said "yes I am for real". I emailed him back and told him to come to this site and read the parts wanted section. He thanked me and said he would check this site out. Nothing since.

Re: Site with some good parts

I emailed the guy and told him specifically what parts i wanted and to send me a method to pay him by.I then requested a phone number since his ad had clearly read that once money was fixing to change hands a number would be provided to seal the deal.He reemed me and told me i was an idiot and not to waiste my time setting by the phone.I was then called a tire kicker, flake and the list goes on.He told me that i had never read the terms and FAQ's page,i copied and pasted the page to him about the phone calling message when money was about to change hands.I quickly ran back into the arms of ebay im afraid to say.One of the most frustrating experiences of my parts buying career i believe. thanks

Re: Site with some good parts

OK guys here goes. I am pretty sure that this is the same guy that I tried to buy a Rockcrusher from on ebay once. I tried to pick up the part and he was never available. I never paid him and never so I was not out anything. I gave him a bad report on ebay and since then I have had at least a half dozen people to email me asking if I ever found this guy because he took their money and never delivered on the parts or sent something totally different from what they paid for. He use to operate under another name on ebay claiming that he was only a "friend" listing the parts and had nothing to do with the parts. This is a scam! Kevin

Re: Site with some good parts

If this is the same guy that I dealt with, he had changed his name after the scam went bad on ebay. Check out the feedbacks on the ebay name " potheads* ". This guy had a pottery business with plenty of good feedback. The last 6 feedbacks were negative and all auto parts. The last person to contact me because of the feedback told me that this guy had his business in Va. Before that it was in Georgia. I would not take a chance on this one until someone tells me that he is legit. Kevin

Re: Site with some good parts

Maybe this post should have it's name changed to "Site that doesn't deliver the parts!", or "Site that'll rip you off on parts!"
It was kind of misleading the first time I read the post title.

Re: Site with some good parts

Well... thanks to LITTLE TOMMIE I'm here due to my posts on Team Camaro and Team Chevelle. That's the good news!
Bad news is... I'm being licked on like a lollipop.

At this point, I'm in knee deep. Mr. Frank Cummings or whoever he is communicated in well mannered and informative fashion when I showed interest in his imaginary parts. Since funds were sent I've been handed two false phone numbers, poor excuses and no information as to when the parts would ship. The address provided was...
16391 Wyndale Road
Abingdon, VA 24212
703-997-6021
I forwarded funds via a well know carrier and the envelope was delivered on a front porch. However, the front porch address that it was delivered to in no way the address I sent it to. Iím investigating as to how the delivery driver knew to forward this envelope to a different address.
Iíve made a request several days ago for my funds to be returned immediately and as you may suspect there has been no further contact from Mr. Frank Cummings.
As more unfolds Iíll be glade to post the information. In the meantime, I would ask everyone to post and inform all boards and sites that they visit. Iím confident that several other people have fallen victim since Iím currently in communication with a few individuals whom put trust in this lying and conniving deal.

Please contact me should you wish to share and/or obtain additional information.

Re: Site with some good parts

I've wondered what was up with this situation. I was all over those "NOS Nova quarter panels" when this first came out. The responses I received were fairly timely and cordial during my initial inquiry process.

Once I stated my intent to purchase, my refusal to mail a payment, and desire to avoid high freight costs and risk in-transit damage by traveling to pay and pick up the parts in person, the quarter panels were suddenly spoken for by someone else.

Subsequent inquiries finally resulted in a email saying they've been sold and shipped. However, they are still listed on the website.

At least I'm not out any money. However, it really sucks for folks that are. It's a shame that people do this to others.

Re: Site with some good parts

Tony, don't blame yourself, this guy advertised on a bunch of sites. His prices seemed too good to be true and that's the first warning sign. Then he had pictures of other people's parts he took off Ebay and other sites and could never provide anyone with close up shots. Then the fact that he wouldn't let anyone stopy by his place, etc. That's why so many people around here ask questions, to get good references and opinions.
