Re: 9 F 17 1100837 alternator for sale

OK OK enough!! 67 camaro I have many comments to make. This all started with,"837 alternator for sale, appears original condition,,no pulley/fan spins free.Make reasonable offer
1st For you to say I would have been (upset) if you would have asked it's condition is a little unfair,I was thinking "original condition" was somewhat of a decription although now I see that could have a wide meaning. No one accused you of wanting to "steal" it by the way, your name was not included in that phrase.2nd You though maybe I should have asked in a different post as to what it's value was.I think if I would have done that you would not have been interested as you would have felt the price was "inflated" that I would have listed.3rd I never said I "only" wanted to sell it to someone to put on their own car,by then I was demonstrating a point with the 5K car purchased 20 years ago was worth 85K today and thus what I paid for the alternator was irrelevant as it had been around the garage forever.
4th I have never had anyone seriously ask me what I paid for something when I was selling it and if asked they surely didnt expect an answer or aleast an honest one!
The only 837 alt I had noticed for sale was on this site for I think $650 and it was "rebuilt" thus what one missing some pretty important parts was worth I had not idea.Even if the buyer is also a seller he will not profit without some time and effort and searching for the correct pulley and fan.One other thing on determining the price is how it's dated.Good date, bad date I still have no idea I was offered what I though had to be a "reasonable" price and definately more than it was worth to me as I had no car that it added value to.
No we have reached the point that you have a bad feelings against the buyer because I accepted his offer. Come on!!!
I have no hard feelings over this deal twords anyone.Next time I will list a price that I think is to high and say OBO! In this day in age of $2200 steering wheels,$3200 distributers and $5000 rearends a guy hates to short himself!
I may have ended the sale prematurely as I though the post was going down hill so hopefully this is the bottom of the hill.

"HOW WOULD YOU FEEL!!!!!"

If I needed the alternator, I would feel like I should make sure to bid on it, instead of letting someone else get it again.

Hi Chuck long long time no see as for the 837 when i saw that small casting dip i reconized it right away, anyway when i sold it to you was because i didn't need it and its been yours for the last 5 years anyway, you dont need my blessing to sell your stuff, so go for it!!

Re: 9 F 17 1100837 alternator for sale

I would think that Delco would have made lower volume alternators in bunches & alot of the 837's would have a similar date code. Same as the 499 Distributors where the date 8/H/28 shows up alot.

apologies may be in order

Little Tommie. He Buys and sells as a Business. It was For Sale for several Days before he bought it. You had a couple Days to buy it but didn't get it done. Don't Blame him because he made a offer on something and it was accepted. This stuff usually gets snapped up fast so if you see something you need, get it done... Re: 9 F 17 1100837 alternator for sale

LITTLE TOMMIE
The bottom line is that Yountto's a dealer & he buys parts to resell at a profit. It's pretty simple. There were only so many 837's made so they will only go up in value every time the part changes hands untill it ends up on a car.
If you look at the time of your postings, Yountto had already made an offer while you were kicking the tires.
I know how hard it is to get dated parts (anyone with a small block 326 water pump dated April '68 )

I've never met Younnto or bought a part from him but he sure seens to rub some people the wrong way on this site.
It wasn't that long ago he started posting here & people didn't believe he had the parts he obviously did have.
The personal bashing can sure get out of hand pretty quick here. It kind of adds a "Jerry Springer" atmosphere
I'm sorry you missed out but everyone had an opportunity to put in an offer.

Just my .02 cents

well i was not trying to upset anyone, but i tryed to get a bid in. i had not sent a PM before and i guess it did not go through. so my loss!!!!!!!!
(apologies to everyone)
just don't have a lot of money to spend and good deals are hard to find, and with yountto around buying up everything
and a endless supply of funds, it makes a LITTLE GUY like me
ready to through in the towel!!
YOUNTTO, good luck with your parts buisness, it sure sounds like you have a lot of parts.
JUST JEALOUS:
