I remember the article on that 72 Chevelle..it's awesome! As I recall, they also blew out the rear end while doing the road test for 'Hi-Performance Cars' Magazine and had to replace it prior to delivery to the waiting customer. Another shining example of the fact that I was born to late.

This is probably this one...
Motion Vega estate (woody ) wagon 350/CH Turbo Charged
The letter CH is for Charged ????
This is probably the hood on the top....
Firestone tires...
Side pipes...
Yes the two Vette is probably two Motion Manta Ray.
One possibly Orange or Red and the other Yellow.
But with B&W pix ???

I thought the Hemi Dart was absolutely unbeatable, but not according to this picture where Bill Mitchell's Motion Camaro pulls a big holeshot on it. Cause all I've been hearing about that period's drag racing was Hemi's were beating everything, i'd like to find out different.

copo9566aa,
Yeah--sorry got a little lazy--turbo/charged=turbo/ch
Firestone Tires--In the article the Vega had Firestone Wide Oval 60's in rear and Firestone 70's up front, I guessed they paid more attention to quaility control back then.----TODAY ---JoeG

Didn't a Motion Equipped 454 Camaro Hold the A/MP and M/MP NHRA record in the early 1970s.

What he said ---plus there was that rookie [Bill "Grumby" Jenkins]---I think he pulled one or two hole-shots on the favored competition.-These fellas gave it their best shot everytime, no matter who they were up against--otherwise it is just a matter of numbers and statistics and believe me that is not the magic formula to win a race.---I feel better now ----JoeG

I'm not sure how the actual point standings wound up but here's a couple shots of Dennis Ferrara who took over the A/MP & B/MP duties waving the Motion banner. Notice some evolution in the 2 pics. Coincidentally, Ferrara also ran the 70 Grumpy's toy XIII car in it's last incarnation until 77 I believe.

In 1974 Dennis Ferrara set the A/MP record at 9.39 in Suffolk, Virginia. He also had the MPH at 145. He used to make many test runs at Cecil County and usually put the car in the low 9.20's in many occassions at that time. Great Competitor!

This one's from a 4 1/4 page article in HP Cars Magazine. It's the Baldwin campaigned A/MP car.
Here's a link to the full article via Mad Mike It won't let me attach the file because of the size.
