Re: Tom Shaw's Magazine

I checked today... I sent my check 2/22/02. Brian, I don't remember a seeing a decent article in either Chevy High Performance or Super Chevy in the last year although my reading is limited to thumbing through them at the grocery store now. They take about 30 seconds apiece. I have a subscription to Chevy Rumble but it's crap also.

I'm pulling for this magazine to do well since Primedia pulled the plug on Muscle car review. Just bought mine from ebay and I'm looking forward to starting my collection of Musclecar Power.

O.K., Since I didn't subscribe I also just bought 1 on Ebay. Maybe this will help generate some funds if that's the hold up. Will see how long it takes to arrive.

A Message from Tom Shaw

Guys,

The following is a message that Tom asked me to forward to all of you regarding the magazine and EBay sales.

"Gentlemen,

Please understand that the issues for sale in eBay were posted AFTER all subscriber issues were sent. Getting the first issue complete, and sent was my first priority. After I got the print order back from the printer, I began a 3-day (and night) process of stuffing and labeling envelopes. 10 tubs of magazines were delivered to the mailing company for sorting, bagging and processing. During this time I posted the issues on eBay - once all other work to get the subscriber copies was complete. Also, please remember how eBay works - once a transaction is complete, buyers send in their payment, then, after checks clear, items are shipped via the SAME Postal System handling subscriber copies! Ebay buyers are not getting special treatment while faithful subscribers do without. Come on guys. -Tom"

Tom "reviews" the site. So please don't sacrifice me to the Musclecar Gods. I am merely attempting to help the process out.

Casey.

Just got an e-mail from Tom Shaw regarding my new subscription and he says I should have it within 30 days. It would be a shame to lose a magazine before it got started.

Got (2) of them in the mail today, must have ordered them twice. First Class all the way. The Pictures of the cars are Exceptional--Very detailed. The articles are interesting and written by people that know about cars.. Every car at the Pure Stock Drag Race had a picture of their cars and a write-up (NOT just a select few) Too bad it was the Only year I missed going.. Oh yea I especially like the Cover Car!! The magazine was worth the wait and I wish them Good Luck with it. Mark

No offense taken. I did pay extra for priority mail so this may have made a difference. I was pleasantly surprised that I received 3 email updates from Tom during the coarse of our transaction and the impression I got was that he was sincere and did exactly what he promised. I would imagine that everyone would receive theirs soon. Just my opinion.

Re: A Message from Tom Shaw

I think Tom should give everyone who mailed in Payment between Jan.02-June 02 a free years subscribtion.Meaning they are already compt.for the year 04.Or at least a Free T-shirt included.
Seems fair as he held onto our payment for almost a full year, while someone who can bid on one on Ebay this month recieved their issue already and ahead of most everyone else...

Obviously, Tom Shaw has either small feet or a large mouth, as the former seems to have fit very easily into the latter.

Still don't have mine either

Stefano has it right, a definite lack of business acumen

Re: A Message from Tom Shaw

Maybe we should consider that our early payments helped Tom invest his time, efforts, AND his own money to get this magazine off the ground. If it's as good as we all hope, we will have had a part in it. Helping in the success of a magazine so many have been crying for should be comp enough, IMO.

Mike, I like you. I look forward to having a beer with you at scr6, even if they only have rolling rock.

Re: A Message from Tom Shaw

Mike,

A little good natured grumbling aside, I don't think anyone here has a real problem with it taking so long for the magazine to come out. Look back at the timeline on the posts here. The real P&M started when the thing became available on eBay before the vast majority of "Charter Subscribers" had received their issues. That's where he crossed the line! You could see it coming last week, and sure enough, it's now documented right here that eBay buyers have received theirs before subscribers. Wrong, plain & simple.

sixtiesmuscle 02-18-2003 11:00 PM

Re: A Message from Tom Shaw

I hear you, but.... As far as "acumen", that's what the magazine is doin'. It's a cum in! Be patient. If it sucks, Shor will refund your money. You'll just have to take it in Rolling Rock that he steals from BKH.

Stefano 02-19-2003 07:58 AM

Re: A Message from Tom Shaw

Not getting the magazine in the hands of those who were there from the begining prior to listing, selling and shipping off ebay is bad business plain and simple, no matter how good the magazine may be. It is not the $$$$'s at issue it is the principle.

I am beginning to think his problems might be with whomever he has contracted for his mailing service. Sounds like the product is ready but can't get shipped!! At least trying to give him the benefit of the doubt!! Maybe those more fortunate could "hand me down" their copies when finished! Jim
