Re: News from the Auction front.
On the red cross ram Z/28 ,if I remember right this car sold on e-bay about 6 months ago for $34,800 and the new owner wants $54,000 at his dealership in Florida. Also I believe the car is color coded for another color maybe blue? I rember talking to the old owner when it was on e-bay. Jeff H. no matter how much you have in the JL8 car, you can not go wrong. I saw a cross ram R/S Z/28 JL8 car for sale for $75,000 on the TRM website about 2 weeks ago and they said it sold in 2 days.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Any body watching the auction on TV? They just rolled up a white 67 Camaro convertible Car Craft magazine car with some type of blue Yenko like stripes on it. It sold for 41K.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Yup, just saw that. That's a pretty strong number already. I'm gonna miss the rest of the action tonight, gotta go to a hockey game.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Two hours into the auction and I haven't seen any real GM Muscle yet other than a few Vettes and the above mentioned 66 Impala. Lots of Mustangs and Mopars, Where's the General

Re: News from the Auction front.
350 Auto they claim it is a high points show winner
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
I think these dudes need a North American car guru on this show. They can't tell a Cuda from a Challenger, don't know or aren't able to explain some of the unique engine combinations - DUH.
I assume Reggies's Yenko Velle will be going through soon. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
These guys dont know much for sure. Did you know the 409 was a truck motor..LOL Idiots. I bet they know the Foriegn stuff though.
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
Reggies 70 LS-5 sold 48,500
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
Micky, Yes that was a 409 truck motor--these guys aren't too bright...Most of them get caught up in the bidding and even the announcers are making mistakes. Reggie's Chevelle black/white 454 $48,500.. Fun to be here and see all this. Most of the people have more money than they know what to do with it.. Mark

Re: News from the Auction front.
Don, My wife is WATCHING and Taping this so NO!! I just got Kevin Suydam's '69 Yenko Camaro (orange) and it was delivered last Thursday. I STILL would like to get a Yenko Chevelle so I'll wait till one is Available. These people here are Very Wealthy and sometimes Not to Smart.. Fun experience to be here. Mark

Re: News from the Auction front.
Yes, those guys have very limited knowledge - they are really making themselves look stupid.
They have no idea what's hot in the musclecar market right now. sad. I think they need to replace these guys with some Musclecar guys like maybe Tom Shaw of Musclecar Review, or some major restoration guys. I mean , how hard can it be, they know well in advance what cars are running, do some homework boys, and make a few notes. Goofs. I would sooner be in Scottsdale, than have to watch this on TV and listen to these morons. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
68 RS/SS conv. just crossed the block at $47,000
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
I donĂt think Reggie got what he though he would so far
So far a lot of mustangs and 1 409 truck motor |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Norm, Reggie is NOT too happy!! When there is a commercial break the English Announcer starts yawning and seems bored... Before the auction went on the air there was '69 Hugger Orange Z-28 Camaro that went for $40,000 and a '69 Chevelle SS (Blue with 325 HP) that went for $50,000. Mark

Re: News from the Auction front.
What's the deal on Reggies 57 black Chev. Got fuel injection and some neat stuff, but has no paperwork????
They seem to keep saying, "since it's Reggies, it will bring more money!". Give me a break, big deal! Peter |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Yes, Speedvision need to get rid of the Larry, Curly & Moe anouncers. Please send Brock Yates back to Car & Driver or Road & Track or whatever limp wristed mag he came from.
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
The Speed Channel announcers don't know their butts from their elbows. There is some great American racing history represented by those cars and they don't have a clue.
That 57 Chevy was a factory hot rod that some people call The Black Widow. Chevy even sold a book (1957) printed by the Chevrolet Central Office that showed you how to build your own Stock Car for racing. I have the book. I have read that Smokey Yunick help write it. They tell you how to order the base car with FI 283. The Speed Channel announcers should do a little research. Just doing a 2 minute search on the net you can find a lot of info. Found this on the FI 57 Dubbed the black widow, this light weight coupe took Buck Backer to the 1957 NASCAR championship. Just 3 races into the season, NASCAR banned the use of fuel injected, factory backed cars, claiming they had an unfair advantage over the independent racers. Baker switched over to a singe 4 barrel carb on his 283 cu. in. small block. He went on to win 17 races, easily clinching the championship. I can see why Reggie wasn't happy. That car would have gone higher if people knew the history of it. IMO |
Re: News from the Auction front.
No matter how many times they say essentially "if it's in the Reggie collection, it MUST be real", the smart buyers don't fall for it. If that '57 was a "real" Black Widow it would have been at least double, IMO, of course. Maybe the stuff he's shedding from his collection is finally getting the premium it deserves, a negative one.
As far as the dolts announcing. Mute! Wonder what they'll say when the Yenko Chevelle goes through for $125,000 PLUS tonight. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Hey did the Chevelle go through ? Not bad money for a 62 409 Impala.. Although I wasn't there to see it I thought the 66 Impala 427-425 horse car went pretty cheap. They kept saying it was really a nothing car except for the big motor.
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
JoeC
Reggies car was not a black widow but just a regular F.I. 283-if it was even originally F.I. Reggies car is a 210 model, the black widows came as 150 series "stripper" business coupes (kind with small side "spear" trim and no back seat. Most of the BW I have seen where white and black two tone. Also the BW had the 6 lug special race wheels with no hub caps. Reggies just had the regular 5 lug with small 210 series dish hubcaps. Re: News from the Auction front.
I liked that 67 Fairlane 'R' code 427 with 225 original miles. I thought it would have gone for more than $70K though. I was at a hockey game and it was in between periods so I went into the little brew pub they have in the arena and had them turn on the auction. Other people watching had no clue what these cars are worth and they were all stunned at the prices the cars were selling for. I'll be watching tonight.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Did any body see when an announcer tried to interview Reggie he kept walking away
He looked tired and disgusted Then you see Alice Copper jumping up and down and happy to be there Reggies cars last night were nice cars but not original all modified but nice Joe is right about the black widow as bein a 150 series some where I have a write up on it As for the English announcer and Brock Yates give me a break a 66 big block impala not worth much and a 409 is nothing more that a truck motor and that a car With a 283 is worth more ?? ps Charlie nice pick up |
Re: News from the Auction front.
You are right Dave. That 57 Chevy is not a black widow race car. It is a street car that looks like a black widow race car. That's why I thought it would sell for a high price. Maybe it's not a real FI car but it looked like Reggie thought it would go higher.
here are some big guns going off tonight. lot #644 LS6 convert lot #695 ZL1 Camaro lot #715 Yenko Chevelle lot #716 Yenko Deuce |
Re: News from the Auction front.
I think Brock was the one who said the 59 Impala 348 convert would have gone higher if it had on of those 327 fuel injected engine!

Don Johnsons yellow Cuda goes for $137,500. Looks like he's in bigger demand than Reggie.

Re: News from the Auction front.
The cuda was not a Hemi had a 440 in it

Re: News from the Auction front.
Charley, Is that the Pickup that brought around 30K?
Thanks, Motown |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Exactly. The big bucks was because of his ownership, not the car's worth. I for one would not pay extra for a car just because a sports star or hollywood personally once owned it. An x-race car with history is different.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Guys is Reggie the only one besides our few board members at BJ??? I didn't realize that Reggie WAS the muscle car market. Any info on any other personalities there BESIDES REGGIE??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: News from the Auction front.
BOSS 429 SUPERBOSS "LAWMAN" Mustang went over 100K. That car is a cool historical car. Looked like Kevin S bidding on it.
