Re: 67 Impala 427
Impala427,
Your car was built in St. Louis. "168877S112934" 16887=1967 2 door Sport Coupe SS V-8 7=1967 S=St. Louis plant 112934=The 112,934th Chevrolet built at that plant that model year. Also on your cowl tag next to the Fisher Body number is "STL" which is also for St. Louis. For parts, call the number that T. Billigen suggested. Also post and add on the Impala web site as well as Chevytalk.com. Rick |
Re: 67 Impala 427
The 4D is the designation for the 427 option, like I mentioned all the 427SS have this except the Doraville, Georgia cars.
|
Re: 67 Impala 427
Tom, there is at least one other confirmed plant that does not use that designation as well.

Re: 67 Impala 427
SS427,I thought I was being teased a little.I wish the car was mine though, because I really like the look of these LARGER cars also.I want to thank all you guys for helping my friend out on some of his questions on the car.We will be getting some pictures pretty soon so you guys can see this YACHT.Its not real pretty at the moment but it will look good pretty soon.Impala427 is really excited about the car and I probably am just as excited as he is,maybe more! I will be helping him all I can to get it whipped back in shape.
Thanks Bobby |
Re: 67 Impala 427

Re: 67 Impala 427
In the past I have had good luck getting Impala/Biscayne NOS and Repro parts from Harmons Classic Chevrolet, I believe they are out of Indiana, and from Ciadella out of Arizona, 480-968-4179. Both these companies handle a large inventory for the Barge Cars.
Thanks, Motown |

The older I get, the more I love these big 'Boats'.
I think that I have let too many years go by not appreciating those beautiful interiors and body lines. glad I'm still around to enjoy them. Now, if I could just decide what year I like the best.... http://www.impalass427.com/websmall/67ss427hood.jpg |

Redline, I agree with you.
While we are on the subject, I have been discussing this with another sYc member, anyone see this before. I bought a '69 SS427 convert from the original owner in 1979 and thought nothing of it until I ran into a '69 SS427 Sport Coupe for sale in Mesa in 198? with the very same emblem. Only two I have ever seen. Sorry it is so dark but I am taking a photo of a photo. It is located on the trunk just underneath the Chevrolet script. Both cars also had the SS emblem in the center of the trunk. Clueless in Minnesota |
Re: 67 Impala 427
I like this subject...Rick you have mail...please post the tail lights that a lot of other cars saw in 62 !

Re: 67 Impala 427
Only a few Marlin ??? That is still a dream car of mine. They were out of sight 10 years ago for me. Anyone know what the last one sold for ? I know Malcom Durhams car sold or was for sale a while back....any idea what that one went for ?

Re: 67 Impala 427
Belair;
The Z11 is my favorite Impala, a 409 is a close second Yes my friend has 3 of them, one in restored race form (Allen Green Chev.), one in original race form (Ammon R. Smith - Old Reliable), and one fully restored to stock condition, (Enoch Chev (before it became Dana Chev)). They are all three in awesome condition to my untrained Impala eye, so I just love looking at them. This guy's collection is simply awesome, Vettes, T-bolts, R-codes, M-codes, Race hemi's, LS5's & 6's, Yenko's, 409's of every year - even a 4door 3on the tree! You would love it |
Re: 67 Impala 427
Marlin, I did some racing with your friend in the early 60s! We spent a lot of time at Skyline Drag strip in New Castle Pa.

Re: 67 Impala 427
Awsum.....thats the type of collection I would love to have...

Thought you big car guys would like to see this L78 car . A friend of mine owns it.He's about 16ft tall and weighs about 600 lbs and has been known to pick me up and toss me so I won't bust his chops. Its a gorgeous documented L78.

Re: 67 Impala 427
Is this car from Wisconsin? I looked at a 65 just like it. Super nice car! Had full docs and POP with it.

If they are starting to grow on you, how about picking this one up from me in the spring? Time to let her go. |

Re: 67 Impala 427
Rick,
No offense to anybody that has a black car. They're probably the nicest when clean but keeping them clean is tough. I swore I'd never own another black car. I have a black truck and that is enough. Any other colors that don't show all the scratches? (I know it probably doesn't have any scratches but trying to keep it that way?) Hey, why not drive it here this weekend? Ron |
Re: 67 Impala 427
Real easy to keep clean. I bought it with 10m miles on it in 1981 and it has just a tad over 13m now. Can't get to dirty sitting in storage. That's one of the reasons I want to move it. Time to get something different.
|
Re: 67 Impala 427
Rick,
I suppose you want to get a really wild color like my car so you stand out in a crowd. Hey, take my advise and buy a GREEN car. I might even know where you could find one??? You like Novas? Ron |
Re: 67 Impala 427
Looks very different with the formal roofline.

Re: 67 Impala 427
It's MUCH rarer than either the Sport Coupe or convertible. Unfortunately, that does not always mean more desireable.
Makes for a great prom car for anyone with kids old enough. Back seat and trunk are hugh! Whoops.......forget prom! |
Re: 67 Impala 427
Am I in heaven????
Oh, it must be the "Full Size Chevrolet" web site. I have got to be dreaming...I keep seeing the tail lites of a 62 Bel Air. |
