Alwyn, Nice Firebird, if you know some one looking for a similar project I have a basket case, badly rusted, complete numbers matching 67 Firebird 350 HO convertible I may let go, its a rare one, did not make many 350 HO ragtops, so it is worth saving.

I may be interested in the Firebird......Do you have any pics??

I drive the LS6 as often as possible. It is fun to let the car eat the tires, although a pain to clean rubber from the wheelwells. As far as I'm concerned if you can't drive it, it isn't worth owning. I don't want an oversize paper weight in my garage. To each his own though.

Yeah that is a good Point...Although I am sure there is a lot of money to be made by collecting them

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars

Just because the cars are driven some really doesn't harm their value. As has been said many times before, they can be restored many, many times. If I wanted to collect something with little actual enjoyment from its' use...I'd collect stamps or coins.

I drive the 68 everytime I get A chance, and usually let her breathe A little too!!!! Besides, I wa always told to rotate the engine frequently when you have A solid lift setup.... So I do! It's fun to drive and you really turn some heads with these cars. It only gets frustrating when you can't get away from people who want to talk all day or run up on your bumper to see what you are driving. I don't have the brakes cars have today and in town I drive slower because of that.

I have an original paint Picasso but I've never looked at it. I hear it looks nice. I have an original wood Stratavarious but I've never played it or touched it. It seems like cars and toys are the only antiques that never get used.

Rick I can't seem to be able to post any darn pictures. The whole size thing kills me! I don't know how to shrink them down. And yes I found my tickets at home! Duh! I am gonna go out and buy a scanner this weekend and figure out how to post those pics.

Billy, thanks for the compliment! Sorry I missed you. I also missed you at the Larry Roesch car show this summer. Oh well maby this comming summer we could actually meet.

Frank you have to import the picture into a photo edit sofeware and resize the file under 50KB for the attachment to work.

Drive it you bet. Especially past the original owner's house. He has my blessing to drive it anytime he wants though.

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars

Well, my car isn't a "SUPER CAR" but it is a Super Car and NO, that would be my response to the question at hand. But....and here comes the speech.... I always get a kick out of those who say, "what fun is it to not drive it" or similar statements. I say, Who are you to decide what is FUN for me or anyone else who CHOOSES not to drive their collector car. Ask anyone who knows me or anyone who has been at a CAR SHOW with me...ask them if Mike has FUN with his car YOU BET I DO!! It may be a different kind of fun than you have, but it is Fun for me... I enjoy Showing my car...showing it to everyone and anyone, talking with people at the show from the minute I arrive to the minute I leave. Then there is the on-line Bulletin Boards, like this, E-mails and the tech questions that I answer about 66 and 67 Chevelle SS's, and all the many friends I have b/c of my car...all of this brings me FUN...different than the FUN you have, but it is FUN for me. Don't get me wrong, I know the FUN you speak of...Driving these cars., I had my share....and it is a lot of FUN! But for now, I choose Showing the car and enjoying the conversation that I get because of it.

Sorry for the soap box Fellas....atleast nobody used that Deadly Word...."Trailer Que___n" Oooh I hate that one

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars

Looks like you wouldn't want to drive that one Mike.....but if you ever sell it,drive it thru a mud puddle so the next guy won't feel as guilty !Its much easier to drive someone elses restoration than when you sweat a few years and paid to do it yourself.

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars

I was at Limerock for the historic racing a couple of years ago. There was this guy there who had a '34 Monza that was one of the cars from the Scuddaria Ferrari race shop. (this is what Enzo did before he stared building them on his own) The car had been stored in a mine in Norway during WWII to keep it safe. The car was I believe unrestored and in beautiful shape. This guy had found the car over seas and now was racing it.

He was consistantly leading his class the whole weekend. He was really pushing this 70 year old car. When I asked him if he was worried about possibly injuring the car while racing he replied 'racing is what this car was build for'.

I was quite impressed with his answer beacause his car is worth between 3 and 4 million dollars.
